You know, we talk a lot in BED. About changes in society, about hospitality and about life in general. We constantly ask ourselves if the things that we do are really relevant or if we can do better. I strongly believe that hotels are no longer about luxury, protocol and decoration. No longer about that special menu with 12 different pillow or 99 kinds of tea. Form indeed follows Function. Really great hotels are about true hospitality. For us the key to true hospitality is to really understand people - guests and staff alike. To understand that a hotel is about emotion and indeed about surprise. We do that with the small things like free water, cold fruits and ice-cream at the pool. But what we really aim for, what is our ultimate goal, is to surprise with absolutely amazing hospitality. Such hospitality can never come from rules, standards, protocol and training that only puts hospitality in a box and creates limits. Amazing hospitality can come, in my sincere belief, only from deep within and from a genuine desire of people to care for each other.
