Lots to do, especially if they like the outdoors and walking. The hotel is an ideal base for walking to get the ferry on Windermere, we walked down to the ferry crossing and it took us about 20 mins. Windermere has lots of shops, cafes and places to explore.
The hotel is also very close to Beatrix Potters house which is a nice visitor attraction. Hawkshead village is 10/15 mins away by car.
Going slightly further afield, Consiton Water is about 20 mins away by car and you can find a nice little village with pubs and shops and Ruskins house.
We went to Tarn Hows which is about 25 mins away and had a lovely walk in the beautiful surroundings and then carried on to Grasmere.
It really is an ideal base but secluded enough to feel relaxed and 'away from it all'.
Hope that helps!
Does anybody know if dogs are allowed on the ferry crossing from Faw Sawrey? We are staying at the Cuckoo Brow in March and are planning some things to do. Thank you in advance.

Yes they are. There are very few places where dogs are not allowed in the Lakes. We love it.
Does it matter if you don't have a dog? Told about this hotel by friends. They did not mention dogs. Some of the reviews suggest that the dogs are all over the place.
