This was my 10th trip to the Flying E and we stayed 4 nights, but wish I had booked longer. It is one of my family's favorite vacation spots. We have been coming to the ranch since the kids were 10, 8, 7, and 3....更多
We had a wonderful 3 night stay with our two youngest girls during our recent spring break trip to Arizona. Ande, Amanda, Aaron and all of the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Our ranch house was immaculately clean as was the rest of the...更多

Do you have to book an overnight stay to enjoy the trail rides, or can you enjoy them separately?
I am going to be in the Phoenix area in April and am planning on booking a couple of nights at the Flying -E to experience a dude ranch (we are from the UK).
However, it's just me (not ridden for perhaps 20 years) and my 8 year old daughter who has never ridden before - would it be suitable and fun for just the 2 of us? Do many families bring children of that age?
Thanks for any advice!

I am 64 years old and had not ridden since I was about 14 and only once or twice. I loved it. They will adjust a ride to your needs. I could handle about an hour and a half on gentle terrain. Horses are chosen for you and children based on your abilities and experience and also age. There are lots of kids and lots to do. There is Taffy, the friendliest dog in the world and two cats that you hardly see. I would say there are more fun things on weekends such as cow pie toss and team penning but it depends on their number of guests. BUT, it has been amazing every time we have been there and always, there are lots kids. They have cowboy boots and hats in all sizes. The cookouts at the Chuckwagon are fun with campfire songs etc. you will never forget your experience here or regret going!
I am part of a 3 family group, one family two adults, two adults one kid, two adults two kids. We are doing this on a budget so we can share rooms. What would you suggest.

I agree with the above, but especially that Ande will give you truthful advice on what will work best for you economically, as well as sleeping comfortably. We usually bunk in 2 adjacent rooms that have a kitchette in between (parents in one room, 1 grandma and a teenager in the 2nd room), and it was really nice to have the rooms connect especially when my daughter was younger.. Last year we added an aunt, and had a roll away in one of the rooms and it was just fine. There are plenty of areas large enough for your family to get together, as well as quiet places to go, it is a slice of heaven after all!
"All the rooms are great and all are very closing to the dining room and barn."
