Hi, is it possible to Check in first at Senkyoro after departing from the 10am Romancecar train, and then do the "model sightseeing course" as shown on the Odakyu site starting from Gora or Sounzan while still getting back to Senkyoro before dinnertime? (train -> ropeway at Sounzan -> sightseeing cruise across the lake -> Hakone Shrine -> back somehow)? What would be the ideal route if so? Google Maps doesn't make it seem like there's a good way to get to Sounzan without driving, although I see this Kanko Shisetsu-meguri route on Odakyu's map. Not sure how long it would take to get to Gora from the ryokan via that. Thanks!

Hello, we were hoping to follow a similar itinerary when hosting a guest from overseas, and having experience with the area, this is what is recommended: Check in at the check-in time. (Regrettably, Japanese inns typically don't allow early check-in.) Enjoy the inn to the fullest extent, bathing and walking around the lovely gardens and paths nearby, then enjoy dinner in an leisurely manner, bathe some more, and sleep well. Then, the next day, check out on time (10:00 am) or earlier, and take the public bus (or taxi) to Gora Station to catch the cable car to the ropeway. You may consider stopping at Owakudani (though the paths have been closed there recently), as that is the ropeway's transfer station, then continue on to Lake Ashli. From there, you could take the pirate shop cruise, which offers nice views, to the other end of the lake, where you could catch a public bus back to Yumoto, and then back to Shinjuku by train or bus.
