I was wondering if I could ask about this hotel please. I'm also from the UK and will be travelling to Bangkok for 5 nights at the end of September with my mum, then going over to Phuket after that.
I've seen some bad reviews, but equally some good and average reviews of the hotel. The common complaint seems to be the location of the hotel, being away from the main road and train station and being difficult for taxis to find, and also the lack of English proficiency with the staff. Some people have also complained the room was not clean, but only a minority. This is not so much a big issue for us as it's just a place to sleep and so long as the air con works and the room is clean, that's all that matters.
I would like to ask about guest's experience as to the above points, especially about what tours/ attractions, bars or restaurants are nearby or whether the hotel will help to arrange tours for us? We don't want to spend too much on traveling to and from the hotel if it is far away from the attractions/ sights and if it is out of the way this could be an issue.
Also, how far is it from the airport? We decided to get a cab to the hotel, but now after reading the reviews we are concerned about whether the cab driver will be able to find it?!
Please let me know as soon as you can, or I may have to ask our travel agent to change to another hotel in a more central location - any recommendations on that point also would be helpful, thanks.

Hi Cindy. We have just returned from Thailand and stayed one night in this hotel before flying back to the UK. It is situated off the main road but that is a bonus as there is mucho traffic in Bangkok so it's makes it safer and quieter to be off the main highways. It can make it difficult to get a cab but the hotel staff were great and sorted that out for us, even negotiating a reasonable fare. Getting to the airport was easy too and the hotel staff advised me about this - they have leaflets on the reception desk. I was going to get a cab direct to the airport which would have cost around 400 - 500 baht. However, we ended up getting a tuk tuk (a not to be missed experience in the city but not for the faint hearted!) costing 80 baht, to the Sky train (BST) at Phyathai that went straight into the airport costing 90 baht for the two of us as I remember. The hotel is very near the main shopping malls, (MBK and Siam Square) walkable if you can manage the heat - they have a street map on reception and will show you the way. Reception staff were very helpful and spoke english. The room we stayed in was basic but clean, hot water plentiful, air con effective. Not much of a view out of the window but that is common in Bangkok where they have squeezed buildings into limited space but not a problem if it's just a base. The hotel is in central Bangkok but it depends on what tourist attractions you want to visit as to whether they are close. It is just off Rama IV road which is a major highway in the city and Democracy Monument is also close by and central. The hotel will help you with tours you want to do and the journey to Phuket probably if this hasn't already been arranged. Hope this helps and you have a great time in Thailand - we did!
What is the best way to get to the hotel? Cab or BTS? Thanks.
