I have a similar question. I want to avoid driving in downtown Toronto. Is there public transit from the hotel to downtown?

Yes there is. Right across the hotel, you can catch the bus, take it directly to the Subway and from there, Subway straight downtown Toronto. This total journey, a maximum of 45 mins.
I just booked a room for this hotel and was wondering how far it was from the downtown area? I mean, how far is it to some of the attractions (i.e., Toronto BOtanical Garden, St. Lawrence Market, etc.). I am interested in some of the things in Toronto. I assumed that when I booked this hotel, that it was actually in Toronto and not in the outskirts. I canceled reservations at one hotel and came to this one, thinking that I'd be closer to the attractions and it looks like I am only 5 to 6 minutes closer by car.
I'm also curious to know if there are ways to get to the attractions I want to get to without having to drive. I will be driving up (in NY right now, will be driving by Niagra Falls then to Toronto), so I don't mind the driving.
I'm just not sure I want to cancel reservations at this hotel to get something closer, which my end up being even more expensive, especially since I will be in town on July 21 and staying until July 23.
Just curious. I really want to make the most of my short stay in Toronto.

Use public transport once you find inner-city parking and time your entry to and exit from the city to off-peak hours.

I got in late in the evening and only had contact with the front desk clerk who I would describe as efficient. Neither rude nor especially friendly.
