Planning a fun trip with my best friend in July. Would the junior site be sufficient (noticed there are no double beds) and is kite surfing and jet skiing available? Also concerned with mosquitos and sand flies as I'm severely allergic.
We are a family of five, with children ages 22,20 and 17, who love to shake out the cobwebs/tail feathers. ;)
1) Regarding night life, is music (live or otherwise) and dancing an offering at The Palms? If not, recommendations please?
2) Any trouble with seaweed? current? rough waters?
3) Snorkeling in the sea adjacent to the hotel?

There is NO nightlife at this hotel & the nearby town shuts down at night. There are a few nightspots but all are a taxi ride away or a mile & 1/2 walk down the beach. Be careful at night. On the plane back, we met 2 college aged girls who were mugged on the beach at night.
There's no snorkeling at the hotel either but you can get your equipment right there & walk (very close) to a great spot. The hotel also offers snorkeling excursions for $100.00.
I don't know if I would recommend this hotel or even island if you're looking for nightlife. The girls that were your kids age stayed at the Ocean Club west. There was a band there at night but apparently it wasn't safe. Look into Cozemel, hotels on Doral Beach in Puerto Rico, Barbados if you want to keep your college aged kids entertained. They're not quite as commercialized as Aruba or Cancun but still have a hopping town.
Do you provide chairs and shade on the beach?
