My family has planned a week long Taiwan coastal road trip mostly started off because of my desire to visit Huihei Juhuang B&B which I’ve found years ago but never had the chance to really drive alone East Taiwan coastal highway to reach to this very unique B&B - or name in Chinese “灰黑橘黃” or literal translation “Grey Black Orange Yellow”.
The only way to reach this B&B is by car and we rented car from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to make our way down east coast Taiwan gradually stopping by Taipei, Yilan, Taichung, Torako and eventually here at the B&B in Taitung County - all self driven by following the GPS easily did not get lost.
The B&B was almost fully booked but I was lucky enough to found one last room two months in advance and reserved the room for family of four for one night stay.
The architect itself is very unique comprised of colors grey, orange, some yellow and red. Very calming environment as we walk in - concrete floor and wall for good air ventilation and location immediately next to the coast about 300m far also brings in the sea breeze quietly.
Once we walked into the B&B we were immediately welcomed by lots of self-made pottery and iron/copper sculpture made by the artist/owner living nearby. Well organized and well designed. Even for our toddlers of age 3 and 5, we felt comfortable in the environment except we constantly needed to remind our toddlers to be quiet to respect other guests.
By nightfall around 8pm, the entire complex goes into complete silence and except the noises from our own room, we could not hear any other noises except the sound of cricket and the sound of the waves - very calming and peaceful.
The room itself comes with simple amenities including towel, toothpaste, and water boiler - but for frequent travelers traveling to stay at B&B, that’s all really needed.
Since we are near the Tropic of Cancer the weather is close to tropical weather and my hand washed laundry dried almost within couple hours air dried.
Highly recommend this uniquely situated and quiet B&B to truly appreciate the living lifestyle of enjoying the moment slowly and be “慢活”.
