As I arrived the hotel lobby in the afternoon, all the lights are off, nobody there at all. I walked around the whole complex, no staffs as well as guest, I was wondering if the hotel is already shut down. Luckily, I later on spotted a guy hiding himself in the reception, sleeping, then I managed to check in.
The room itself is below what a hotel is supposed to be, dirty carpet, marks on the bathroom floor as well as sink, I later on changed the room which is slightly better, but the towels are still dark grey in colour, I am sure that you dare not touch them at all. Fortunately, they still got hot water supply from 9pm to midnight, I don’t have much compliant about this in the conservation point of view, but it would be better if they can extend it a bit longer.
Later in the afternoon, more and more groups checking into the hotel, as I get into the restaurant, it was packed with tourist dinning as group tours, the waitresses were not prepared to offer anything for individual travelers like me as I am something unexpected to them. The dinner itself was quite OK., only a bit oily, and the price is very low. I took the complementary breakfast buffet in the same restaurant the other morning, but you won’t miss anything if you choose to skip this breakfast. Anyway, I heard that this is already one of the best hotel in the location, and the rate is low that maybe we cannot ask for too much.
As to the location, Moxi, the most famous attraction is the Hailuogou and its glacier. I remember I was on an old shuttle bus in Hailuogau with a horrible driver, with one hand holding a mobile phone, the roads are narrow and winding and it’s a deep cliff below. The shuttle bus stopped in a Tibetian temple and everybody is requested follow them to visit a monk there, later on, everybody are pushed to donate RMB200, some really donated while some refused. The impression given to me by this spot is that I have been robbed, my conclusion is that such a visit to this poorly managed spot is certainly not worthwhile.
Another attraction near Moxi, Yanzigou, is on the other hand quite a worthwhile visit for me, this is a newly developed attraction, but is not going to be in full operation until the autumn of this year, I am rather impressed by the rain forest walk there, as well as the scene is really good. The general staffs are nicer and not so commercial, at least at this stage.
