A great Japanese family experience. Pick-up at Nimii station and whisked into the mountain retreat. The Spa was only minutes from the Japanese style home and food with dinner and breakfast was prepared with open hearth. A great surprise for the family and well worth the stop before exploring nearby caves. Hosts sang songs and told stories of local produce. Amazing starry skies that night.

This inn used to be an old farm house, and they have done a great job to turn it into a place to stay comfortably and to be able to experience Good Old Japan. Meals are served at the traditional fireplace on the tatami floor called "Irori." Main dish, charcoal grilled local beef, tender & tasty, is cooked there. The owner, being a former tour guide, speaks some English. He is also known as a cave expert, and tours into natural caves, not ones made for tourists, can be arranged on request. Better to make a booking in advance, for they take only one group, from 2 to 10 people, per night.
