amazing
2019年12月
A bucket list experience. The pits are about a 10 mins walk from the car park but this is easy and pleasant walking with easy access for wheelchair users. It was a cold but pleasant day. Would not like to visit in the summer months as there is very little shade. Was expecting crowds of people but was pleased to find this was not the case. The warriors are standing proud and ready to meet the visitors. there is a small area where you can stand and watch the renovations of this proud army taking place.

Amazing

Waited to see this site since it was first released about the find. Have previously seen in the mobile show when it visited London many years ago .This did not do justice to the immense size of the find.
A lifetime's wait but well worth the wait.
Beware it is a massive site and to do it justice allow lots of time to visit. It gets very busy and very packed.

A must see

Rate this with the Grand Canyon as a must see. So well organised and a signed copy of the book by the man that found the site when digging a well!

In a gorgeous park setting these little warriors are in a very safe environment. Beautifully presented in a lake setting. definetely worth a visit. Visitors have space to wander about, get close to the exhibits and do not get smothered to death like in Xi'An. Very interesting history, well displayed.

Not such an amazing experience

We were only able to access the free exibits on the lake. Ticket offices were closed and it appears only Chinese nationals were being allowed to enter the other areas that required tickets; we were asked to get tickets from the closed office. Still, well worth a visit and the surrounding park is very nice.

Excellent Day out
2018年11月 • 好友旅行
went to see the terracotta warriors, didn't realize the park they are in was so big. thankfully it was a nice day and had a leisurely walk around. it is all built around several hills so can be quite energetic. also unlike Europe there is no place to stop for a drink and bite to eat. so avoid going just before lunch.you can easily be in the park 3-4 hours if you see everything. all the exhibits are housed and well laid out. i went up to the pagoda at the top of the hill, its quite a climb. ( it was also a building site! apparently still under construction.) there is other buildings to see as well up there. the warriors were very good. only negative was at the entrance it was not clear where to buy entry tickets, no English signs and my Chinese friends had to ask the security guard! its the last building on the right.

Amazing tomb of Han Dynasty King of Chu
2018年12月 • 單獨旅行
That's before Common Era. It was interesting walking into the tomb and see the chambers. I did not engage a guide as I had already watched a few documentaries of this tomb but without some prior knowledge it is better to engage a guide. The tomb was actually raided a hundred years after the burial, and the raiders knew exactly where to dig to get to the main chamber. Most of the gold were looted but fortunately a whole suit of jade armour was left behind as owning jade was exclusive to nobles and having it in the possession of commoners would spell death. Also, the raiders went straight for the main chamber leaving side chambers nearer to the opening of the tomb intact, so some items were excavated from those chambers. One of these intact chambers housed the remains of a man who turned out to be the King's Director of Kitchen (something like that) based on the seal that was buried with him. The King liked him so much he was killed as a sacrificial companion ... Unfortunately, the Xuzhou Museum where all these items are kept was closed when I was there (due to reopen only on 1 May 2019).

The actual owner of the tomb is still undetermined as no items were excavated with a name or date, but various clues point to either the second King of Chu, or the third King of Chu. All these make for good drama, especially since the third King of Chu led a rebellion against the Emperor of that period and was executed. And no other Kings' tombs were ever excavated with terracotta warriors.

The whole compound is huge - it consists of the tomb of the King of Chu (excavated) on the Southeast side, the tomb of the Queen of Chu (not excavated, nothing to see), the Terracotta Warriors on the Southwest side, and some other exhibits on Han dynasty carvings (not so exciting). The Terracotta Warriors are distributed into two sites - one on the Southwest side of the compound in a building where the exact locations of the warriors were found - one row has been restored with the warriors arranged in order, while the rest show the warriors in different stages of restoration including a last row that simply shows earth (not excavated). Warriors in this site are mainly infantry and bowsmen. North of this building, there's a lake with two buildings - these are where the cavalry warriors were found. However, soon after excavation for some reason they had to abandon the site as they had to flood the area (into a lake). It was only later that two buildings were built in the lake showing the two spots where the cavalry warriors were found (so it is kind of like a small underwater museum).

There's also a Buddhist temple on the North side which I did not visit.

Worth visiting
2018年11月 • 單獨旅行
A the statues were a bit small but I loved the history and reading about the history. I would suggest take about a morning to walk througj the park and see all there is to see... You enter the gate but first buy a ticket at the gate 70rmb I think. The park itself is beautiful but with the ticket you can enter the 3 main attractions... Definitely worth it.. The weather was fantastic as well... But I would advise you to go in the morning... I was there around 10:30 on a monday and there were no people... But when I left around 14:30 the crowds were forming..

This is definitely a worthwhile visit. There is so much to see and sadly I wasn't able to see everything but I was finally able to see the little Terracotta warriors of the Han Dynasty. They are AMAZING
