Hi there. We are looking at a stop off as we are travelling from Monterey to Sequoia. We have kids aged 13, 11 & 8 and have read the Bear Gulch hike takes about 1.5hrs. Im assuming this hike starts from a car park but can't find that for certain on a map.

Hi, I'm not sure if you have learnt that Pinnacles is divided by the natural rock formation into East and West Divisions, connected only by foot trails. There is no through road that connects the east and the west entrances to the park. There is Balconies Cave Loop on the west and Bear Gulch Cave on the east. It takes about 1 hour to drive from one side to the other. Both hike starts from a parking lot. It's hard to find out the trail head and thus the parking lot using GPS probably because this is a new national park so you should definitely stop by the visitor center (there is one at each side of the park) to pick up a map. You also can print out one before hand from pinnacles nps website if you don't want to spend time at the visitor center. Safe travel and wish you a lot of fun!
Has anyone participated in the ranger-led night hikes that are held on Wednesdays in May? Was it worthwhile?
Our group has half camping and the other half is making the pinnacles a day trip. Is there a restaurant close to the camp site that we all might gather before the other half heads back to San Mateo?

Hi, There is no restaurant really close by except for the general store at the campground. They have some limited stuff.
