We were able to put our boat in with no issues and spend the afternoon at the sand bars with tons of great friends north by the Interstate bridge. then had dinner on the lake at one of the many bars and restaurants that have water front docking.

Eagle viewing especially during cold icy mid-winter superb below the Sauk Prairie Dam when open water becomes scarce and open water persists there. Great viewing at VFW Park/boat launch in Prairie du Sac or at the dam site half a mile upstream. If skiing at Devils Head or Cascade Mountain a 10 to 15 mile trip into Sauk City/Prairie du Sac can be well worth it for the eagle viewing or just the scenic beauty!

This is a great destination for eagle watching, canoeing and Sauk Prairie festivals. Eagles come during the winter because the water is always open below the dam.

A lot of fun for beginner level river adventure fun. Not very deep from Sauk City to Arena. There is a river access to Ferry's Bluff in two spots. If you're going to be doing sandbar camping make sure you know the Portage dam water level release schedule so that you don't get washed away by surprise.

We caught fish of multiple species, floated on a beautiful river with tremendous scenery on both sides, enjoyed the laughter of different groups who stopped on the sand bars, and had the best time. It was one of the best days we've had in months. Go through Wisconsin River Outings as they take care of everything with a smile. They were top notch, and so is this river. Can't wait to return.

Had such a amazing time sleeping in the tent on a sandbar enjoying the warm air and cool river just loved hearing the fish flopping it was a beautiful time
