This is a lovely old Church in the heart of the town with Parking close by. A helpful Church Member pointed out the interesting features and history of the Minster.
Free entry but a small donation would be appreciated towards the upkeep of the building.

The history of the Minster is both fascinating and well worth visiting when you visit Wimborne.
The chained library in the tower is a must - the librarian has a phenomenal amount of fascinating facts and stories about the history of the Minster, the area and above all the books in the Chained Library.

Wasn’t sure to expect, we are a young couple trying to pass the time but we actually really enjoyed our visit to the Minster. The building & architecture is beautiful and holds so much history! We were met by a lovely American lady (didn’t catch her name - sorry!) but was very well informed and had many interesting facts which enhanced our visit. There is also a one of a kind library, which is definitely worth checking out, again with a very knowledgeable and friendly man telling you about the history of the books! Would definitely recommend visiting if you’re in the area!

Very welcoming volunteers to this unique building. Lots to admire including the astronomical clock, Beaufort monument, and monuments.

We visited this ancient church - with the wonderful name - one afternoon. It's a pleasant place to have a wander but the star is the chained library. It was open when we visited and we received a one-to-one talk on the library and some of its contents. Fascinating stuff. Well worth visiting if you get a chance.

Bijou as Minsters go but lovely combination of patterned stone and timber hammer beams. Chained library not always open but fascinating insight into what was valued back then, especially if you don't want to haul yourself to Hereford Cathedral for the other one. Some entertaining epitaphs, too

What a beautiful church, and clearly used by the local community.
Such a pity the Chained Library was closed when we visited but the video about it was very informative.

This is a substantial minster church in the very heart of this lovely town. St. Cuthburga herself was the sister of King Ina of Wessex and she founded a Benedictine nunnery on this site in 705 AD. In 871 King Alfred buried his brother Ethelred here after a battle near Cranborne. The nunnery was destroyed in a Danish raid in 1013. A college was founded here by Edward the Confessor in 1043. The church as it is seen today was mostly built between 1120 and 1180, with later restorations and additions including the clock in the 14th century. The church has a particular connection to Lady Margaret Beaufort (mother of Henry VII) who not only buried her parents here but also founded a small chapel and attached a priest to it who was required to be a teacher of grammar to all comers. These instructions resulted in the founding of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in the town and the current Church of England upper school. There is much within the church to see; ancient tombs with royal connections, the usual selection of church furnishings and decorations, the famous astronomical clock, and the magnificent chained library. Well worth a visit.

Hi. I dont believe there is one, but they appreciate all donations. There are fixed opening times, check the web-site or do a google search.
