Fascinating exhibit of glass and excellent information about the history of glassmaking and glass cutting in this region. Especially interesting is the film from 1910s that shows glass blowing and glass making from the Dorflinger factory.

There are two Dorflinger Museums about a mile apart. Of the two we much preferred the other: The Dorflinger Factory Museum).
This is Museum is the former estate of Christian Dorflinger who began producing "fine lead crystal" cut glass in 1883. The home and grounds overlook a small lake - very beautiful setting. Lots of acres to hike and enjoy the scenery. Only a portion of the home is open and that is the glass museum and the gift shop.
The Museum was a disappointment particualrly if you first visit the Dorflinger Museum Factory. A very limited collection of glassware, not confined to Dorflinger's. The self-guided tour was lacking. We were given a bound book which, in our opinion, inadequately explained what was in the various exhibit cabinets. The $5 admission charge included the self-guided tour and the gift shop. Guided tours are not available here.
Perhaps if we had first visited this Museum (instead of the Factory Museum) we would have been more impressed. We spent approx. 45 minutes here and that included a brief walk around a small part of the grounds.

There was quite a bit of Dorflinger glass on display, but not as much as at the factory museum down the road. There is an absolutely terrific gift shop on site with lots and lots of glass items, although most was fairly expensive.we did purchase a few items, and had to leave before we spent too much ! This museum is also located within a nature center, with several trails for hiking. Well worth visiting.

I visited the factory and museum in White Mills, Pa with a large group bus trip. The history of the company is interesting. You'll see samples of the ornate designs in glass cases, but don't expect to see any more than short films on glassblowing and cutting. Live demos would have been more exciting--but the company has been defunct since the 1920's. The souvenir shop contains no Dorflinger glass or crystal, only ornaments you can buy anywhere for less. The trip took 3 hours from NYC; not worth that long a drive. If you go, be sure to eat at Settlers Inn in nearby Hawley.

Really interesting museum displaying a collection of beautiful cut glass pieces, from more than a century ago. Simple and not overwhelming - There is plenty of different pieces to look at without making the museum feel like a massive museum/repository of glass. Great change of pace from other attractions in the Poconoregion, and this museum has a quality collection that would draw visitors if the museum was located in any city - it is that unique and interesting.
It doesn't require a day or half a day to go thru the collection. That said, kids may or may not be interested - when we went, some kids were interested, some were interested when their parents pointed out things, and other kids were uninterested. Probably a typical child experience in any museum with art or historical pieces. The staff was very helpful and enjoyed pointing out things as well as encouraging dialogue and answering questions.

Set on beautiful grounds that you are free to explore, the museum contains absolutely beautiful glass! The largest collection of Dorflinger glass, with more than 1,000 pieces of cut, engraved, etched, gilded and enameled crystal. WOW! Exquisite doesn't begin to describe it! The staff is friendly and eager to offer the history of Dorflinger so ask away. The gift shop has a nice selection of items for purchase. Worth your stop!

If you like cut glass you should make the effort to visit both the Dorflinger Glass Museum and the Dorflinger Factory Museum. Don't miss the latter and the Dorflinger headquarters that have been meticulously restored at great cost. A bit out of the way but an area that is worth a couple days if you have them or a stop on your trip to Corning.

We took a bus trip that included this museum. One man's private collection, he's restored the remaining buildings that once housed part of the factory complex, and set up superb displays of a huge assortment of Dorflinger glass dating back to Abraham Lincoln's days in the White House. The owner and his curator hosted our tour. While certainly not as massive as the Corning collection, it's well worth the visit and very inexpensive. Also, the surrounding area (Wayne County, PA) is scenic and very pastoral.

Your visit was to the Dorflinger Factory Museum. The Dorflinger Glass Museum has been on the top of the hill in White Mills since 1989. Our museum also displays Dorflinger glass and sits on a beautiful wildlife sanctuary with walking trails. Hope you will have time to come back to White Mills to visit us.

Aug, 2017 Wed: GPS good up to cross st. Go straight past their sign. No handicapped parking, long walk around or steep grass walk. Bathroom and air. Only drop off by house. $4 or $5 donation. Unique glassware donated by many people as examples of the factory' s products. Just like the Flemington Cut Glass (closed in late '90, Flemington, NJ - closed due to changing tastes of gifts) they produced hand made glass products of fine quality. The museum area is not that large, self guided tour, and a video. This advertisement film was lost for many tears, found by accident and restored. Only one or two tools used by the company are on display.
The "gift shop" is larger then the museum, but contains two rooms of glass made by long gone U.S. glass companies (none for sale). The gift shop has a variety of glass items for sale made by craftsman, prices not bad. Check website for changing days/hours.

We are not enamored with cut glass crystal but this Museum is wonderful. Much of the pleasure comes from the incredible guide who took us through the glass making process, glass blowing, steps in cutting and polishing the glass and the history of the many people who purchased Dorflinger stemware including Presidents beginning with President Lincoln through President Kennedy. There are original work stations used by craftsmen to rough cut, do finer cutting then polishing stations. Our guide knew the business and family history. When you leave you will have a far greater appreciation of the skill and knowledge that went into producing these beautiful items.
