Very interesting place. Well worth visiting when you visit Margate. Quite a few steps but all nice and safe. Interesting tales from the volunteers!

Excellent, highly recommend. Amazing caves with a lot of history. Lee is fantastic guide, so helpful and informative. Plus a had a lovely laugh with him which made the trip even better. Thank you Lee for a lovely visit

We were excited to see the caves had be reopened when we visited margate. We went in knowing nothing and quickly found Lee, one if the volunteer guides. He was brilliant filling us in on the full history of the place. Well worth the visit.

Impressive Space to Visit

Wonderful chalk cave system underneath Margate, surprisingly dry and warmish to visit unlike other case systems, will only take an hour max or so. Pretty easy to access with children or older visitors, and some very well preserved Victorian cave paintings.

Marvellous Margate Caves.

I visited the caves today with my Grandsons aged 8 and 5. The caves were a surprising delight and the staff and volunteers made sure our experience was first class. The activities provided were great and fantastic value for money as was the whole experience. We had lunch there which was all freshly cooked and enjoyed by all. Go visit the caves, you will it be disappointed!

Well worth a a visit to chuck into your day at Margate! Reasonably priced and not over crowded and staff have good knowledge of the history

A peculiar place to visit

Really peculiar place. The paintings, the caves themselves... A really nice space. Pictures can look great, and the space is bigger and higher than Shell Grotto (for those who vannot be in narrow spaces!).
Also, the staff is very helpful, warm and welcoming!

A hidden gem, so worth a visit.

What a hidden gem! This little known place needs more publicity!!
Spectacular history dating back to the 1600s and so worth a visit.
Staff were so friendly and passionate about the caves and the guys down in the caves had so much information to pass on. It's certainly worth asking them questions, you'll be amazed at what you'll learn.
All ages will enjoy this amazing place.

Recommended for anyone of any age - worth a visit!

Had a lovely time at the caves. Ticket was only £4.50 for adults. Lee made the trip - his insight into the caves and his enthusiasm was incredible. He provided us with many interesting stories and lots of knowledge about the caves and past smuggling routes. We even found an engraving from 1800! All staff were very friendly and attentive throughout - thank you all !

A must see if you’re a local or a visitor!

A very reasonable entrance fee (£4.50). There is a small room near the entrance to the caves which provides the background to the caves. It is an interesting place to visit and the enthusiastic volunteers are on hand to answer any questions. Allow circa 30 minutes for a visit. + additional time for refreshments in the cafe.
