A beautiful NP, even in this season. The waterfall was still running strong and we drove a two hour 4x4 trail through the park. It has stunning views and lots of wildlife! We did not stay in the park, but saw that the accomodation is fine within the park. Maybe next time!

This was our second visit. After a prior visit when we experienced the beautiful landscape for the first time, we decided to show this unique part of South Africa to a family member visiting from Europe. The scenery is literally out of this world. Perhaps the falls can't be considered the major feature in the park in all seasons, but the scenery year long is spectacular.

We had it on our own that sunny July afternoon. The vistas from the undernourished falls at this time of the year. View from the decks. Bouldery scrubby terrain, When we turned to the game self-drive section we had extra thrill. Giraffes wandering lackadaisically. Beautiful light. We traversed for a while in the designated unsealed rod in full safety to our hearts' content. The quiver tree ocassionally present. An exceptional event.

The chalets (we had a family chalet) were amazing! Beautiful views, plenty of space, lots of cooking ustensils. Big terrace overlooking one of the camp's swimming pools.
However, the gravel roads were difficult with a 2x4 vehicle, I'd recommend a 4x4 especially after the rains. But I definitely recommend the park for the stunning views of the falls. Debit was low when we went, but it was already impressive as it was. Need to go back when it's in full flow!
Reception staff was very nice, we received all the information we needed. Shop is well-stocked.

The views are amazing and we are very happy we went for the quick detour on our way to Port Nolloth.
Please be aware that it is very hot in December, so plan accordingly.
The walkways that were damaged in the floods are still not fixed, so there are only 3 viewpoints open at the moment. Doesn't look like they have even started with repairs, which is a pity.

I was astonished to see how many people just came to see the (disappointing) waterfalls (of which half of the viewpoints are closed for works) and then left. No, much more impressive and beautiful are the viewpoints along the canyon or gorge: especially Ararat and Oranjekom are stunning

very disappointed!!! only one view point is open and nobody tells you before you pay full price to see the falls.

Lovely view points. Such different terrain. Some look outs were damaged in the floods but still quite a few available. The park is worth a drive through.

You can't go to the Northern Cape and not visit the magnificent Augrabies Falls!
Augrabies National Park is somewhat off the beaten track and on arrival the park looks pretty standard but then you reach the falls you hear the THUNDER. It was deafening.
The Orange river was full and we saw the falls at high capacity. Photos and videos did not do it justice. It really was majestic. We stood on the walkways and the spray from falls was like a light rainshower. We watched many people trying to take the perfect selfie shot amidst the spray. People watching was our entertainment for the morning.
Our kids drove us to Echo Corner. The scenery was breath-taking with a fascinating array of plants and abundant lizards were the hallmark of this park.
We enjoyed magical evenings under the stars. The vast expanse of darkness allowed the stars to shine with incredible brilliance. As our eyes adjust to the darkness, we become aware of the sheer number of stars that filled the sky. Some stars twinkled playfully, while others shone with a steady glow, creating a mesmerizing dance of light. It provided us a unique opportunity to appreciate the vastness of the universe and the beauty of the cosmos in a setting of natural splendour.
We enjoyed the park much more than we thought we would.

For a 1/2 day trip not a bad place to stay and view the waterfalls rock formations nightly recommended went in June water flow was not to bad but been told that in rainy weather the falls are even more spectacular. While u in Augrabies national park do the safarie drive and if u have a 4x4 vehicular drive to the hot water springs 20 km’s away also worth while

Hallo,
wir möchten im Februar 2023 den Augrabienfalls Nationalpark besuchen, evt. auch den Kgalagadi Nationalpark. Ist es notwendig dass wir einen Allrad nehmen oder kann der Park auch mit ein normalen PKW gut befahren werden. wir waren bereits schon öfters in südafrika und hatten bisher immer mit einen normalen PKW gut durch die Nationalparks gekommen. sind die Strassenverhältnisse schlechter als im Addo?
Welche Unterkünfte im jeweilgen Park sind aus Südafrika am besten anzufahren oder ist es sinnvoll eine Unterkunft vor dem Augrabiesfalls zu buchen.
Über welche Plattform buche ich diese?
Vielleicht war ja jemand in letzter Zeit in diesen Parks. Ich würde mich über eine antwort freuen.

good morning, the entrance fee is depending on various aspects (nationality [ZAR 60, SADC 120 and international 240] and age). please see the website - its the easiest. regards Michael

The road to the falls itself you will be fine as it is tarred. Even within the park you should be fine to drive the gravel roads, but do not attempt the 4x4 marked roads.

Hey.my family and i wants to go for a day visit.what time can one come and what time should one be out? How much is it per person? What kind of activities can we do for the day?

It's open 0700 to 1800. There is also accommodation and a restaurant on site.
We were there in November and it was 192 Rand per person (international) and 48 Rand for SA residents. I think children are half price.
The main feature is the waterfall with a number of decked paths up to it. It's pretty much worth the entry fee even if expensive (relatively) for SA. There are also walking routes and a driving route.

My husband and I and our 7 year old son would like to do a road trip from Johannesburg to Augranies Falls. Leaving s Johannesburg around 25 December and returning 30 December.
Can you advice on a good route? Should we break up the journey? Good accommodation options? Things to do and what to take into account?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I travelled JBG - Mokala and then onto Augrabies and loved it. The only problem is that I don't think you've got long enough to enjoy Mokala. I stayed for three nights and then moved onto Augrabies for just two nights arriving late and leaving early, (so one good day there) and was happy with that. On the way back I travelled the N14 which was good but then since I was going to Kruger via the Phalaborwa gate, I diverted at Vryburg thru Mafeking and across to the N4, so can't comment on the rest of the trip. At Kimberly I stayed at Marrick Safari (12km west) which was basic but very enjoyable especially if you are interested in seeing Aardvarks.

My husband & I are doing a safari in Kgalagadi in October , we then have one day with a rental car to travel from Upington to Keetmanshoop - is it feasible to also visit either Augrabies Falls or the Fish River Canyon on this day?
