Highly knowledgeable staff and thought provoking exhibition

We came to Kostanjevica by chance having randomly picked one of the day trips from the tourist guides picked up at the airport. It described the town as charming and medieval. Whilst the former is true, the latter is slightly exaggerated: few (if any) display a medieval character. Still we saw the charming little courtyard leading to the tourist office and went there with no aim. There is an exhibition about the Bosnian Herzegovinan identity. We were shocked by the nature of the exhibits which were frankly, at first sight, absolutely meaningless, almost funny by their absurdity. We then went on to the tiny tourist office where the young lady explained to us the meaning of the exhibits and it suddenly made much more sense and made us realise the complexity of this little nation. The young lady then recommended places to visit around Kostanjevica, places that were not indicated in our guidebook, namely the cave (opens only in high season!) and the old monastery: the recommendation I have ever had (see my other review). She was keen to taylor an itenary around our needs and would have recommended other places nearby and further afield, alas we were here only for a day trip. Overall I would DEFINITELY recommend this temporary exhibition and I commend this young lady for her knowledge. Thank you young lady!

Tourist office and gallery

Little town has information office in an old building in the middle of the village. Parking is near, some steps lead you up to the office. They will give you some information about the area. Near the office is little gallery. Part of building with nice arcades needs a reconstruction. Village town is nice and peaceful.

Leuke houten bruggen

夫妻情侶

Het stadje wordt aangemerkt om speciaal te bezoeken. Persoonlijk vonden we het niet echt een wereldattractie. De houten bruggen zijn leuk, vooral de voetgangersbrug, er staan een paar leuke huizen en een werkende stadspomp. Kerkjes waren niet helaas niet open. Het stadje is een eiland in de Krka. Dat maakt het speciaal. Het klooster iets verder is de moeite absoluut waard
