I don't recommend coming here just to see the boardwalk. It is very short, and basically just goes under the bridge across the river. It is only 100 meters long, and basically crosses the river between the Eaton foreshore and the Taylor foreshore.
It goes under the Collie River Bridge, so there is a steady stream of traffic overhead. I've often seen people fishing here, but they only seem to catch blowfish (if anything). If you are fortunate, you can see dolphins in the river (I've seen them here once on more than two dozen visits), but not often. For that you are better off walking the entire trail west towards Pelican Point or east towards Eaton. Comments from others are mostly about the trail that goes west and east of the boardwalk. While the paved walktrails beside the river are nice, this boardwalk is only a very small stretch.
The Collie River Walk is a 10km walk alongside the river, and that is also worth doing. However that is much further up river, and located in Collie itself, starting at the Fred Sharte Memorial Lions Park (Mungalup Road, Collie) and ends at Hunter Street (Collie).

This area is absolutely beautiful area with great walkways to take small children with prams or just walking. It's along the river were you can see lots of native plants and birds. If you are lucky enough you can also see Dolphins. There are lots of children play area's and also you can take your dogs for a walk.
