Picturesque first part of the way but then the vegetation becomes less dense and in the summer months it can be very hot. We expected more compared to other similar couples we have seen in Galicia and believe that the fame of the place is somewhat overrated.

Short hiking route that starts from the old Light Factory (now converted into a hostel) and runs along walkways and stairs fixed to the upper part of the Mao River canyon. The sound of flowing water and birdsong accompanies you throughout the tour. It's a shame that the thick riverside vegetation prevents you from contemplating the river. Only at the height of the bridge that crosses it is a wide view possible and in the last section once the walkways end. At that point a path appears parallel to the river bed that leads to the mouth of the Mao in the dammed waters that fill the Sil canyon and the final stretch of the Mao canyon. Although it was not my case, I understand that extreme precautions must be taken due to how slippery the walkways can be on rainy days.

Beautiful. It is very worth it.
We took the boat from the town hall, which is very well priced and they explain everything to you. Opportunity to see the vineyards from the boat.
I highly recommend it.

Una ruta preciosa por pasarelas de madera con unas vistas preciosas del cañón del río Mao. Eso sí, con lluvia es una pista de patinaje. Ojo a las caídas. Es de lo más agradable en la Ribeira Sacra en la zona del Sil. Ojo porque hay poco sitio para dejar los coches.

Ruta de las Pasarelas del Rio Mao is a pathwalk located near Castro Caldelas, in Ourense Region, in the North of Spain. It is a walk, where you can see nice views of the river, the forest and surroundings. It is a very well signposted way, where you can walk some differents ways. It is possible to do a walk for all family o really a walk for hikers.

Pensamos que el paisaje valdria la pena y no deja de ser un paseo diferente por el bosque. Deja mucho de desear como algo muy bonito y original. Los arboles practicamente no te dejan ver el rio

Nos parece una ruta muy cómoda para caminar, al tiempo que disfrutarás del sonido del río y de los pájaros y resto de animales. Merece mucho la pena visitar estas pasarelas de madera que te trasladan hacia unas playas y un paisaje estupendo.

This was one of our favorite things to do in Ribeira Sacra.
Parking is available at the Albergue O Fabrica de la Luz and the wooden walk or "pasarela" starts just a few feet away.
You can enjoy the amazing scenery of vineyards on the slopes, read about the plants in the area, and even enjoy the water at the bottom of the stairs.
The stairs portion is 2 km and by following the path on the stairs-side of the bridge, you a will find a very nice sandy beach to take a rest before going starting the
journey back up.

Las pasarelas son muy seguras y discurren por un paisaje espectacular. Es interesante seguir las explicaciones sobre la fauna y flora del bosque. No debe perderse esta atracción si se recorre la rivera sacra

si , tienes uno justo enfrente , creo que tb se puede bajar el coche hasta un restaurante que hay al inicio pero nosotros lo dejamos antes de la rampa.

Cuando fui en Mayo, estaba abierto el Albergue y había algo de comida, pero lo mejor es que contactes con el Albergue de la Fábrica de la Luz. Sus teléfonos son 988 984 990 y 679 060 509

¿Como llegar hasta alli?

Es muy fácil llegar hasta allí, desde Parada de Sil siguiendo la carretera OU-0605 dirección Bouzas, pasamos esta localidad y siguiendo la carretera unos kilómetros llegamos hasta la Fábrica da Luz, hoy día convertida en albergue. En ese punto sale una pequeña carretera de pendiente pronunciada por la que se accede a un pequeño aparcamiento de aproximadamente 10 plazas. Si no hubiera sitio aquí la gente deja el coche en el arcén de la carretera. Una vez en este punto, la ruta que se inicia en la parte posterior del albergue está perfectamente indicada y transcurre toda ella por pasarelas de madera, siguiendo el curso del río Mao hasta su desembocadura en el Sil. La única dificultad que presenta esta ruta son los, creo recordar, casi trescientos escalones que tiene. No es necesario tener una forma física especialmente buena pues más allá de los escalones no tiene otra dificultad.Eso sí, no es accesible para personas con movilidad reducida, pero alguien con una forma física normal puede hacerla sin problemas.
