A really informative place! Great tour guide (Sam), who was very knowledgeable about the various species of animals there. She was great with the children on the tour.

So... I had a pretty odd wedding request, in that I really, really wanted to have a sloth at my wedding. Coastal Wilds made this wedding dream (in DC) a reality. They were incredibly easy to deal with and sent out the most amazingly cute, sweet sloth (Elliott!) and a handler who made sure that Elliott was well taken care of and that nobody stressed our little buddy out or tried to touch him. The handler also was incredibly friendly and full of facts for everyone! They really helped make our wedding perfect!

Amazing experience. Kids absolutely loved it. Guide, Sam, was super friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go again!

The animals were fun to look at and took about 15 minutes and then they only let 10 people in at a time to look at the sloths who were not out but rather in their little sleeping area. they stretched once in a while. extra drinks were $10 for a glass of wine or a beer. They said they had snacks but the only thing they had was a Snickers bar or hummus with pretzel chips. We stayed about a half an hour and that was sufficient. I got to see a sloth and that was cool and I got to see a kangaroo with a Joey and her pouch and that was very cool so I don't feel like I lost my money but I don't really feel like I got what I expected for the price.

My 9 yr old and I spent an afternoon here in October. We enjoyed the guided tour and holding the small animals. Our tour guide Katie was pleasant and knowledgeable. All around a great visit. Our favorites was the high-five from the river otters!

This was a birthday surprise for my husband, and both of us had no idea that swimming with otters was a possible activity. It was truly life changing for him because otters are one of his favorite animals. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and he will never forget this.

We did the animal encounter and got to hold and pet so many cool animals - kangaroos, camels, bearded dragon, hedgehog like critter, wallaby, and capybara. My usually grumpy teens had a great time! The otters were especially entertaining. Many cool animals, but it isn't a huge place (so don't go comparing it to a big city zoo). Great place for kids of all ages or just for any animal lover. Our guide was great.

Started our adventure at 7:00 a.m. with kangaroo yoga and had a blast. The kangaroos were friendly and interacted with you as you did yoga. What a beautiful way to start the day! After the yoga class, we took the encounter tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The animals seem well cared for and happy. Highly recommend this place. The various events seemed a little expensive, and our adventures were worth it!

Coastal Wilds is a hidden gem. I loved the tour and our guide was so knowledgeable and respectful of the animals’ well being. The highlight of our visit was the otter swim. The otters were playful and so adorable. I thoroughly enjoyed them climbing on me and watching them interact with each other. Yes, it’s expensive, but think about how much it costs to maintain a safe and healthy habitat for the animals. I have great pictures and my visit will be treasured memories.

I would leave a higher review because obviously the animals were not an issue. In fact, the kangaroos were amazing. You get to walk into their home and pet them and love on them and that was outstanding! But here's the issue.....I paid A LOT of money for my grandson to handle animals etc. But instead we were told several times that the animals were tired and we couldn't handle them today. I get that - I really do, then offer some money back. Otherwise this became like any other zoo, but on a MUCH SMALLER SCALE! And we have a yearly pass to our local zoo that rescues exotic animals. So on one hand I encourage the visit to support the animals they rescue. But what I would say is think very small and like just a typical visit to the zoo. If you do that, you may be able to overlook the amount of money you spend on this visit and have a great time and not be affected by the little faces looking at you in defeat when the keepers tell you the animals cannot be handled today. Personally, this establishment charges way too much money - by at least half!

Thank you for your honest review. We are very glad you enjoyed our kangaroos and other animal ambassadors and got to experience many of them. We are sorry that you were unable to encounter some of the others. I'm unsure of the particular circumstances, but it has been unusually hot this summer, often under heat advisory, and that type of weather can sometimes effect the amount we are able to handle some of our smaller animals. We understand this could effect the value of our park, but we still are able to provide a detailed guided tour with up-close experiences for each of our animal ambassadors. It's true our footprint is not as big as some facilities, but we pride ourselves on personal interactions and information with unique animal ambassadors. We hope you get an opportunity to revisit the park as we grow and have a more pleasant experience.
