Ever since school we had been reading about this point which was earlier called Pygmalion Point. Being there was a uniquely satisfying experience. We had a helicopter ride from Port Blair to Car Nicobar and then another ride to helipad at Indira Point. Approach to the southern tip is beautiful along the sea. A large statue of Indira Gandhi and Lighthouse which is submerged in sea now which used to be on ground before the tsunami and beautiful beach are things to see. I will cherish memories of this visit for whole of life.

Indira Points refers to the southern most tip of Great Nicobar Island which is also the Southernmost point of India.
Originally a lighthouse stood at this tip but in the Tsunami of 2004 the sea has barged in and the lighthouse now stands in the sea. To approach this point you can go by road until past Chingan then cross Galathea river and walk along the beach till you reach the tip. Its a 6-7 kms trek but worth it.

This is definitely a different experience to visit... southern most tip of the island .. it's so beautiful..took long time to reach but it's worth

Indira Point is the southernmost tip of India, and is named after Indira Gandhi who visit the place during her tenure as the Prime Minister. A trip to Indira Point is not easy, and will cost you a lot off time and money. But it is worth the effort, and you only realise that standing at the southernmost tip of India staring into the Andaman Sea!

This was a birthday wish of mine.. a birthday gift from me to me.
For once it was difficult to believe that i was in front of this beauty.. the gorgeous lighthouse.. looking straight at it.. This was surely a once in a lifetime sort of an experience and will take ages to get over the fact that i was here, solotrippin on 02nd October 2016..

Once in a lifetime, one has to be at this spot. What a magnificent view all around, added to the special feeling that this is the known southernmost tip of the islands!

this place is accessible only by air or by sea. i had the opportunity to do both. an outstanding experience. the by sea experience does cost a lot of money and it is not permitted all year round due to sea conditions.

I could only get aerial view of this place from the plane.
The place really gave a trailer to beauty of this archipelago. The sun falling on the water and golden rays left me very excited.
It was so exciting that the whole vacation started on a very good note...
