We dived here on the second day. At first I wasn't sure if we could dive in this place, because it was said to be quite extreme. It's true that it's very extreme, from the sloop you can see that the water has a strong current. After turning around several times to find a place to get off, we finally got off and were guided by the tour dive guide.
And indeed, this place is very beautiful, the views of the rock walls are beautiful and many types of fish can be found here.
Luckily, even though it was only 25 minutes underwater, we felt that was a very long time. Amazing experience.

Hands down the best dive site I've ever been to! Recognized worldwide as one of the best places to dive, Batu Bolong does not disappoint! The biodiversity here is insane, with rays, turtles, crustaceans, and even pelagics! Make sure to brush up on your certs! A reputable dive master will insist on an Open Water cert at a minimum. Beware the downcurrents!

This previous review by ochassot says it all: "Pink Beach (Komodo National Park) is one of the finest snorkeling spots I have seen across many continents; it is in a pristine shape with a very high level of biodiversity (fish and coral). Sometimes, the sand takes nice shades of pink. Not to be missed while in Labuan Bajo." I agree completely.

Auch für Schnorchler bestens geeignet. Wir sind einige Male um den Felsen herum geschnorchelt. Die Menge an Fischen und die Farbenpracht der Korallen suchen ihresgleichen. Ein Muss, wenn man vor Ort ist.

The most colorful coral I’ve seen so far in Indonesia. I snorkeled and my husband dove. We both loved it. For snorkeling, they will show you where the current lines are and you stay between those and it is calm and amazing. Saw tons of different types of fish, and every color of coral, all in about 20 foot x 20 foot area.

Go on day diving to the central of Komodo national park. Our guide take us to Batu Bolong as the first place, it was amazing and very adrenaline rush. The current is quite strong, but our dive guide knows where we have to start. This place is amazing, lots of good fish and coral neatly arranged on the rock walls. Have to go to this place.

Batu bolong is considered one of the best diving sites in the world and it’s easy to see why. There was endless amounts of healthy coral and different marine life all around. We saw all types of fish, octopus, eels, sharks, manta rays and even a school of tuna passed by in the open water! This dive site has tricky currents that can change easily so stayed close to the reef and make sure you follow your dive guide properly.

Incredible diving experience, dived here twice. The entry to the dive is spectacular as you enter through a chimney! The currents were very mild in the first dive so we could circle around the entire site which is very rare. Lot of schools of fishes and sharks around!

Of all the reefs in komodo, this is probably the most beautiful reef with the entire reef surface is full of soft and hard corals. Fish life too is prolific. Tricky currents mean following the guide closely is paramount.

Which organisation could you recommend me for a snorkel trip to Batu Bolong?

Hello, I am just starting to put together a trip. We are snorkelers but also love to do discovery dive (with a guide without the license) Is this site good for snorkeling as well? Are you alone or on a tour? How did you get there? Where else have you been on this route that was great snorkeling? Did you go to Komodo national park? I would love to hear any feeback and recommendations!

Hey Mate, you can only scuba dive at Batu Bolong with a dive tour as it’s very strong currents but Komodo National Park has many amazing reefs to snorkel - we lived on a boat for 3 days and snorkelled every day! We even got to snorkel with Manta Rays in Komodo National Park! To visit Komodo you will fly into Labaun Bajo, Flores. We went through a company called ‘Flores Journey’ to book our whole trip and they were so helpful!

i am thinking about doing a dive trip to indonesia this coming fall. does anyone have any specific knowledge of the possibilites for diving in Indonesia both liveaboard and from shore day trips. i am an experienced diving and i am looking for a "fantastic destination"

Komodo is fantastic for diving macro and big fish... corals also amazing. I did day trip since budget was my concern. It will take 2-3 hours to reach dive spot from flores. Or maybe u can stay at dive resorts which is nearer to the dive spots. While liveabord i never try yet. For sure either way still worth it since the diving experience is so good.

By time our family arrives, we'll have only been scuba certified for about a month (and hopefully a minimum of 20 or so dives under our belts). Is this location for diving going to be too difficult for us with the currents?

Hi, not at all. I had 20 dives before going to Batu Bolong and there were no issues at all. The instructor explained very well the current around the reef and how we should follow him. They are very safety conscious and the dive was perfect. You´ll have a great time!

We would like to hire a boat for few days and explore the Komodo area.
From your personal experience, can you recommend a very reliable boat and a captain?

Sorry for late reply as i didn't check box ussually. For boat to explore komodo, i suggest you come to Manta Rhei Dive Center. They will arrange live aboard for you.
