No, it is about 13 miles. You need transpo to the Visitor’s Center at Mendenhall Glacier. The falls are a very nice walk from there. You might check for a city bus or take a shore excursion.

I'd say either a taxi or maybe the city bus runs to the glacier. (not sure about the bus)

Yeah you can take it, but you have to take it outside the cruise. Right there in the pier there some drivers that can take you over there.

Usually the crew ship will run a tour bus. I would recommend that you rather book an excursion to canoe the Mendenhall lake and then hike the glacier in which case the tour company will pick you up right at your port. At first glance it may seem like it's an expensive option but when you actually experience the tour it will blow your mind and you will say that it was worth every single dollar.

We paid for a ship excursion. The bus drops you off at the visitor center. You can then decide if you want to walk to the falls. There is a sign at the trailhead explaining the (paved) trail, approximate hiking time, etc. We should have done it as soon as we arrived and skipped the VC. At the falls, you are closer to the glacier. If you have the time, it can be a leisurely walk, just don’t be late for the return bus.

Its about an hour round trip...well worth it to stand at the base of this magnificent waterfall!

From the glacier welcome center, it is a short walk. It is next to the glacier.
