Lovely place with a lot of seats to sit and relax it will be good if there was a coffee club or pancake parlour there to lift the place up

This shopping centre is not that large and doesn’t have much in it. There is a central food court with some seating and various eateries and a few shops that open out onto the street.

As far as shopping goes and the food court, Pran Central comes up short. However, you can come in here out of the weather, sit down, and use the free wi-fi and phone charging. That has to be worth something.

I agree with Oldjack that this small shopping centre is nothing to write home about, although it has a busy Australia Post outlet and some take away type dining options. There is plenty of attractive seating inside. It is, as one might expect, airconditioned.
The architecture viewable from Commercial/Malvern Roads or Chapel Street is certainly worth a photo or three.
There is a good Woolworths supermarket at the centre's back, plus the new Prahran Square civic space and a Dan Murphy's liquor outlet down Chapel Street.
Easy access is via route 72 and 78 Yarra Trams plus Transdev Melbourne buses routes 603 and 604.

The Edwardian Baroque architecture and the building built in 1915 as a Reads Store is impressive with apartments on the top six floors but the shopping center was just OK and less than average with a few of the usual players and some not so usual. Go for the architecture; there are better places to shop.

This is a small shopping centre. It is what it is - don't expect a Westfield type experience (and not all Westfield are good mind you).
That said, nothing against Pran Central - it has it's own charm and is worthwhile.
I like it.
It's food court is somewhat large for its size which I suspect means it gets a lot of trade at times. When I was there (midday Tuesday) it was about 1/3 capacity and quite a nice destination.
If I lived locally I think I would use it for grocery, newsagent, as a casual stop for a sit down etc. I like the place.
There are not a huge number of shops but if your needs are modest, groceries at Safeworths, maybe a quick shop, maybe a cuppa then I would think this is a great destination. It didn't look too busy to be painful. Some of the bigger places with grocery shopping really don't suit this kind of thing - Pran Central looked good.
Parking on Chapel St is a nightmare, same for commercial/Malvern rd. However Safeworths has parking and I'd suggest that.
The toilets! Wow. Loved them, best in category and I go to a LOT of shopping centres for work. It is almost worth the trip to see them.
So. Yes. I would go again and be happy there. It is clean, fairly open, not too busy and the cleanest rest rooms I've seen. Kudos!

Had a bad experience dining there. They had self-service food and gave you a plate to fill the food yourself, which was exactly what I did. The staff there got upset because she thought I took too much. Man, I used the plate you gave me and paid for it! If you can't do it this way, don't let people serve themselves. Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone if that's how they do business.

We stopped in here for a late lunch of wanton soup, which they made to serve and it was very yummy for a cheap eat!
We can't find it on TripAdvisor, so we are putting it on the little shopping mall where it is situated!

This is not a classy, attractive shopping centre. However if you're a Prahran local it's likely you'll go here routinely for the services and retailers; and similarly, if you're visiting this busy area where Chapel Street, Commercial Road and Malvern Road meet, it's possible you'll go in to use the food court or toilets. There are retailers and services on three levels: lower ground, ground and first floor mezzanine. Most shops (e.g. affordable fashions) and the food court are on ground level and are accessible from either the Chapel Street or Commercial Road entrance. Services include banking, post office, medical, pharmacy, phones and telecommunications, and shoe repairs.
What I like about this centre is the handsome building it occupies. The upper six floors are apartments, and they have big windows and high ceilings. They are not accessible to the public, so you'll have to look at the building from outside to see its qualities. It was built in 1914-15 to serve as a department store and is in Edwardian Baroque style, with domes and a parapet.
