I took our teenage visitors on this tour, the hides Yvette and Jess ( as well as volunteers) were amazingly knowledgeable and very safety conscious. We had a lovely relaxing for hours this morning

Thanks to Yvette and her wonderful crew for a great day of Dolphin Viewing above the water in Koombana Bay. The dolphins didn't disappoint with some even doing backflips and showing off above the water line, and some swimming directly under the boat. We got into the water 3 times and saw dolphins swimming around us each time, but the final time was the best when we saw a group of dolphins swimming right underneath us. Very well run tour, so thanks again to the wonderful volunteers both in and out of the water. You run a great ship, Yvette.

Wonderful to see the care and respect shown for the dolphins in their own environment. This was very well organised, we were provided with wet suits, fins, masks and snorkels. Bianca, who lead the trip, plus the superb volunteers made sure we all felt safe, knew what we had to do and ensured we saw many dolphins in their natural environment. We were privileged to see a mother and calf and Bianca explained how the mother and other dolphins nurture the newborn. The centre is supporting research into the animals and the funds go to furthering its work.
This was an amazing morning and well worth the money.

We booked the 'swimming with the dolphins tour' for 220 AUD each, but swimming with the dolphins wasn't possible because they weren't interested in us. They offered to go again on another day but the next available day didn't fit in our trip itinerary any more, so the only thing they offered is a voucher for another tour what is the same as nothing if you are not an Australian resident.
So we paid 220 AUD each for the experience of the 45 AUD dolphin watch tour. No (partly) refund as said in a former review on google.
Furthermore when we were at the beach with our wetsuits before getting on the boat, one dolphin came very close to the beach, but when we all wanted to have a look we were called back, so they could take a picture of the group instead of letting us enjoying the dolphin so close.
All in all definetely not worth the money and I do not recommend the swimming tour, because there are several reasons for not beeing able in the water with the dolphins.

We are sorry to hear you were dissapointed and that a wildlife encounter you have booked didn't happen because the animals on that day decided they do not wish to interact with us humans in their environment. With over 2000 five star reviews you can see we are taking every review serious especially as a Charity focused on Conservation, Education, and Research. For us wildlife welfare comes before everything else hence why we choose not to interfere with the dolphins but let them decide when they want to visit us. As per our policy we offer a go again for free tour on the next available day, sadly you had to depart but we offered a voucher that does not expire and you can trade in as well which is a more than fair offer when dealing with wild dolphins and well above Australian Standards and what other operators can offer. We are sad you feel our tour is only worth 1 Star after you have seen many dolphins in the bay on the tour, they just decided to stay further away on that day while the tour group was in the water.

A superb trip out on Koombana Bay. We saw loads of dolphins and a weel guided trip from Tash. Well worthwhile! I would recommend this to anyone.

Three of us took the Eco-cruise at 12 mid-day on 6 February 2025. Visited the centre before our departure. Both experiences were fantastic. Worth every cent.
The great wealth and experience of the skipper Jess and her happy and friendly attitude we considered to be an added bonus. She and the volunteer Shawn who were helpful throughout made our day so joyful. We saw a number of dolphins
skipper Jess was very happy to explain and respond to questions from many people.
We highly recommend this tour for any age. Happy to do it again next year! Thank you cruise team (and the dolphins of course) for a wonderful 90 minutes.
The shop and the reception staff were great too! Please keep up the good work.

An amazing experience. We were so blessed to see two big pods of dolphins and the skipper was wonderful, getting us close to the pod while staying far enough away to keep the animals safe. I highly recommend this amazing tour

We visited the Dolphin Discovery Centre on the 4th Jan and we were lucky enough to have Jess as our Skip, she had a wealth of knowledge that was given out in an informal manner so that you didn't feel like you were being "spoken at by a teacher". She had lots of interested snippets of information. She was able to take us to see an abundance of dolphins who seemed very happy to play around the boat. We even got to see one dolphin with an Octopus which it was playing "OctoHockey" with. We felt like we got to see a lot to dolphins and there was enough room around for everyone to see them, allowing children to move in front to get a better view. I would highly recommend this tour!
We also went into the centre where we had 50% off the entrance as we had a tour booked. All the volunteers were so happy to have a chat about whet they did and it was very interesting the learn about the turtles and there conservation efforts. Also the staff in the cafe were very pleasant (especially when a customer was rude to a young girl when she brought her food to the table and the customer complained about the large portion that was on the plate!!!) All round a great few hours spent!

We were lucky to have perfect weather for our trip and saw lots and lots of dolphins from the boat. We got into the water 3 separate times and had dolphins approach us and swim under us each time. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful, and the equipment provided was of a high standard. Wetsuits took some work to get into but kept us warm and buoyant in the water. Definitely a bucket list experience! Thanks for an awesome day!

A must do experience for everyone who loves the ocean! I was lucky enough to start my visit by getting up close to Crackers the dolphin for FREE in the dolphin interaction zone. Thank you to the awesome volunteers on the beach for facilitating such a special experience with a wild dolphin! Later I headed out on the eco tour where we were surrounding by dolphins including calf’s for 90 minutes. Again it was made a special experience by the informative skipper and volunteer onboard. To top it off, I got 50% off my entry into the aquarium where I got up close to rescued baby sea turtles. Overall it was such a special day that I won’t forget anytime soon!
My hot tip is to visit early if you want a chance of seeing dolphins in the interaction zone, and buy tickets in advance for the boat tour.

Hi. Regarding the Dolphin Interaction Zone on the beach/shore close by, do the wild local dolphins usually come or visit in the late morning, early or mid afternoon in October or November? How many tend to come close to shore?
I think the train service from Perth doesn't arrive in Bunbury until around midday or 12:30 PM.

Dolphins in the wild can be unpredictable - having said that though, they may be expected from early to mid morning so this is the best time.

Hi Sandra, we don't begin swim tours until Nov 1st. We do have Eco Cruises running still though. Our building is currently closed as we are undergoing a large redevelopment, we aren't due to reopen until Dec 2018. If you'd like to book an Eco Cruise please visit our website.

Hi I'm looking at visiting DDC in February 2019 with my 8 year old, she's a good swimmer but I'm just a little conscious of how long we would be in the water for in the Swim Encounter tour... I was just wondering how deep we would be out and for how long, obviously she can hang on to me if she tires? Do the dolphins touch you or push you? and do you offer life jackets? Basically is the swim encounter suitable for an 8 year old or should we stick to the Eco cruise as observers?

Hi Nicola, yes the swim is fine for your 8 year old. We offer buoyancy devices to everyone if they are needed. We average about 3.5metres in depth. The Dolphins don't touch you. You can also get out of the water whenever you'd like. February is a great time of year though. Likewise everyone would still enjoy the Eco Cruise.

Thankyou for your enquiry. Yes we have a lot of dolphins in the bay in winter. We don't see them at the beach consistently but out in the bay on an Eco Cruise we still see them. :)
