Disappointing and little content from what was described in tripadvisor and elsewhere online about this exhibition.

We were excited to see the exhibition of the Royal House's private photographs.
It was especially nice to be able to enlarge some of the images digitally on monitors.
For most of the pictures were displayed in the original format which is very small.
It was also made one room from Queen Maud's home Appleton House in Norfolk, England
It was also possible to see seals for the royal house horses from earlier times.
Finally, you can take a walk in the cafe in the backyard. It is very simple, and the price high.

Fantastic concert with the Silver Boys. We also wanted to see the exhibition and asked if it was possible after the concert. It was entirely possible. When the concert was over, we were rudely told to go out and that we had been misinformed, by someone with a dialect from Haugesund or thereabouts. In such a place one should be able to communicate in a far better way. The venue was great, the concert Fantastic, too bad the ending gave such a bad impression.

The grand claim is that this is based on the Stables at Buckingham Palace. But, unless I was missing something, it seems to me that the comparison should end with the fact they had an exhibition in the stables. I’ve been to many exhibitions at Buckingham Palace over the years with an excellent collection of art, sketches and all sorts of other treasures, but Oslo was nothing like that. It was a lot of money for what was basically an exhibition about how to repair things. The BBC does it better in its afternoon afternoon show called the Repair Shop.
There wasn’t even a decent shop, and it was hard to find, around the side of the Palace and grounds. I ran out of time on my short stay in Oslo and felt this was a waste of time both getting there and looking at the very few items on display.

Jeg har vært på flere utstillinger her, og jeg synes det alltid er noen flotte og interessante utstillinger her. Det er spesielle lokaler som ikke er så stort så man behøver ikke allverdens tid for å gå dit. Siste utstilling jeg var på var mye flott håndverks gjenstander fra Slottet, - nydelig håndverk med fine detaljer.

It is a very different and an unique kind of art exhibition since inside a real stable . It is quick and very nice visit.

Une visite agréable de la collection avec, comme souvent dans l’art contemporain, des œuvres émouvantes et d’autres pour lesquelles on a l’impression que… on se fout de nous. Beau bâtiment également, mais on a vite fait le tour des oeuvres (20 minutes, 30 si vous trainez).

Despite discovering that it was temporarily closed between exhibitions, it was still good to view and admire the fine building.
Built in the mid 1800s the stables were enlarged by the then King and Queen in 1911. For decades after WWII they were used just for storage.
Launched anew in 2017 when opened as an art gallery on the occasion of the Queen’s 80th birthday. Interesting to learn that the Stables were a birthday gift from the King to her.

Abbiamo potuto apprezzare la parte architettonica di questa che è una galleria d’arte e che incrociandola ci aveva incuriosito, vista l’estensione e la forma che aveva qualcosa di regale, forse associandolo alla posizione e la vicinanza al palazzo. Certamente il valore sarà all’interno.

I bought a ticket to this museum without knowing it. This is because of Ticketmaster unclear description: they suggested a combi ticket with a guided tour of the Royal palace + the name of this art museum in NORWEGIAN. So I thought that was about the exhibition of Queen Sonja's dresses at the palace :(
As I realised the exhibition was already included in the tour, I asked a guide about this place mentioned on my ticket... He told me where it was, as Ticketmaster didn't even specified it was at a different place!
The only good thing about this museum is the place in itself: the old stables. You can see the horses' stalls with their names and troughs. The ground is still cobbled.
The staff was nice, they explained everything in English before I started the "visit".
The exhibition was some kind of contemporary & obscure art. The very few explanations were in Norwegian... One paragraph in English explained the works were about / inspired from the Sami culture, and made with different materials. But this wasn't always visible. And again, no information about what the artists had wanted to do or to show, even in Norwegian. Some of the works just seemed like a joke. It's a pity contemporary art can be so hard to understand.
