En el apartamento que alquilamos nos dieron una tarjeta del turista que llevaba bonos para poder hacer actividades gratuitas. Cuando llegamos a Neuchatel preguntamos en taquilla y en la oficina de turismo y nos dijeron que podíamos subir las bicicletas al barco y así podíamos aprovechar dos de los tickets gratuitos, alquilar una bicicleta para todo el día (la ruta alrededor del lago es muy bonita y sencilla) y el crucero por el barco donde nos aseguraron que no había problema en subir las bicis. Hicimos nuestros planes con esa información y cuando llegamos al barco y ya estábamos arriba nos indicaron que teníamos que pagar por las bicicletas. Les explicamos que nadie nos había informado al respecto y nos dijo que nos cobraba solo por dos. Le insistimos en la falta de información y que habríamos podido hacer planes diferentes si lo hubiéramos sabido y entonces llamo a su jefe y nos cobraron 8 euros por cada bicicleta. Muy mal sabor de boca, nadie nos informó hasta que ya estábamos arriba y con el barco en marcha. Cuidado con los tickets gratuitos. La información que aparece es mínima y después hay sorpresas.

Hermosa ciudad enmarcada con el Lago de Nauchatel
Cuenta con una hermosa costanera que invita a caminar y caminar
Hay sectores con playitas , donde la gente puede bañarse
Fui en junio ; primavera a full; acompañada de maravillosas y coloridas flores durante el paseo por la ciudad !

L'accueil est parfait les conseils concernant les cocktails le sont également ... enfin des employés qui ne sont pas des porte-assiettes et qui connaissent leur travail et le font avec le sourire la bonne humeur et bienveillance. Pierre et Fabrice étaient là ce lundi 12 juin. Suis venue avec ma fille pour un cocktail sans alcool (les autres seront testés la prochaine fois avec plaisir !) .J'étais très septique concernant le cocktail Pinky Winky avec le sirop de chocolat blanc (chocolat blanc indigeste pour moi). Concernant les prix ils sont un peu plus chers qu'ailleurs mais c'est logique/normal/ compréhensible avec ne serait ce que la vue magnifique et époustouflante sur tout le lac et l'infrastructure de l'établissement !!

Beautiful Lake situated at the side of Neuchâtel. Very scenic with the snowy Alps in the background on a clear day. Disappointingly boat rides on the lake are only peak season so other than enjoying the picturesque scenes or walking round it there’s little else to do.

Near the city of Neuchâtel - you shall find this beautiful lake- it is Switzerland's largest lake and along its shore there are several cities and villages.
It is 38+ km long , more the 8 km in width and has a surface of more than 218 sqkm ... so it is a lot of water.
During the summer , water sport, sailing can be one of the activities to enjoy ... also walking, fishing, and even swimming (in the hot summer month) - can be practiced.
I know that there are boat trips on the lake ... there are several sites to visit like "La Tene" and a lot to discover on the slopes around the lake.
So when you are in the area of Neuchatel for sure it will be very interesting to take a walk on the shores - if not not more.
Enjoy ... it is worth it.

Schöne Aussicht und klares Wasser.
Für Spazierengehen gut geeignet. Einen Ebenerdig Weg führt herum den See.

Will be driving or training from Geneva next Wednesday afternoon to arrive in Chur/Arosa by Thursday evening (for business) with my 13 year old daughter. We have one full day and overnight and want to spend it in a French speaking canton doing something unique. Neuchatel sounds perfect. Creux-du-Van looks amazing. But since we will have several days of enjoying the mountains when we get to Arosa, we wanted to instead use the 24 hours to do a lakeside experience where we can speak French with the locals, enjoy shops and outdoor cafes, and maybe visit a castle. If the weather is nice, would love to take a bike ride for a couple of hours and explore paths along the lake to take in the views.
Question: To find a hotel in a setting that offers these opportunities, and which loans/rents bikes, should we plan to stay in the city of Neuchatel itself, or should we look at some of other villages along the lake or Murtensee lake? All of the TA reviews I find here in this section are for the "Lac de Neuchatel", but I don't see which town/city.

I'm a tourist in my own country and so I can't be of much help. However, Neuchâtel is a lovely city with much to see and I like to think that it is best to stay there instead of a small village in the area removed from everything. Your daughter will like it, too; there are many young folks in the city (university). For cycling, I recommend Bienne. There are many (easy) 'bike-only' trails all around the lake.
