Not just another history museum. This combines fine art and craft from each period with more general historical exhibits. And it's also in a fascinating building.

We visited as part of a combination ticket we bought the day before and didn't have time to visit on that day.
We were the only visitors on a Monday morning and we couldn't have been happier.It didn't look much from the outside, and didn't open until 9.30,so we had a little walk while waiting.
Its a huge place,i thought it was just a small museum when buying the tickets but it has so much to offer.Its quietly undetstated and probably overlooked.
But it's well worth the time.
Its divided into rooms going through the ages and really was very good.
In fact the best I've been to in a long time.
It helped that it was just us and the staff!
So much to see could have spent longer.
The lace section was particularly impressive and the porcelain section.
Descriptions were in both English and French.
The art collection was grand and i particularly liked the old courtroom with original wooden furnishings.
I could have stayed much longer it was extensive.
Thoroughly recommend.

A beautiful little museum to discover the history of Bayeux and even more. Beautiful scenography, it is appreciable to see a museum that has not yet yielded to the sirens of a Labourist museography.
Beautiful and varied canvases without the need for expensive works, the Roman gallo Bayeux and of course the Bayeux lace. Very nice room on porcelain.

Really lovely museum with broad appeal. I loved the building itself, the art, lace and porcelain. A great way to spend a couple of hours in the town centre.

Very nice discovery. I entered by chance and I was not disappointed. The presentation of the works is original, the collection of earthenware is magnificent.
The laces are absolutely stunning.

A lovely experience with our three young children. Very friendly lady at the entrance to help us, an obvious route around the museum, not too long, and very accessible for little historians with interactive activities throughout. Examples are - big magnetic puzzle pieces of impressionist art which kept little hands busy while we had a look at the real paintings, and a photo booth where you can wear props and recreate a renaissance painting! We bought this as part of a group family ticket and went after visiting the Bayeux tapestry, we weren't disappointed - very good value.

To be honest, I had hoped to see more of the actual building it was housed in. However, it was relatively well organised and totally accessible throughtlout. Some of the lighting made it difficult to read the descriptions,esp. in English as they were printed on glass and much smaller than the French.

This visit was not planned but without regret, it was a very good time, the evolution of the visit is very well developed, many beautiful things to see.

Interesting museum that covers art and history of the area over the centuries. For me the highlight was the exhibit on lace making. The 3 museum ticket (for this one, the Bayeux tapestry museum, and the Battle of Normandy museum) is a good value and made this museum worth it.

So sorry for this very late reply, I only just saw your question!. I bought the ticket at a little kiosk in town together with the Bayeux Tapestry ticket. I thought both the museum and the Tapestry were wonderful. Hope you were able to enjoy them too! Kind Regards
