7th time we have attended the guineas meeting and the event on the course in terms of the racing was a 5 out of 5.
Lovely course to watch from in a great area and easy to walk to from the town centre but there are always plenty of taxis if you want.
Score is knocked down due to the increasing number of “younger people” who seem to think the course is an outdoor nightclub necessitating laddish behaviour, drunken prancing about, displaying no manners and generally being complete nuisances! Full credit to anyone who can afford to get drunk on the alcohol prices though!

Christmas - the worst festive experience...ever! An utter rip-off

Joined a group of 20 friends for a Christmas party night out at the Rowley Mile complex. At £65 most of us felt it was an utter rip-off.
400 other guests herded into an overcrowded cold dull looking basement for a really poor meal, served with bottles of cold red wine.
Most of us honestly didn't believe we were served with turkey, at best it was quite probably chicken but the small lump of overcooked, dry meat was tasteless. The few vegetables were either cold or undercooked and the meal had no flavour whatsoever. Flavourless dessert, soggy mince pies, cold coffee and crap crackers! Hugely disappointed with the whole evening and felt completely ripped off.
The irritating DJ, with a high pitched voice, shouted down the microphone whenever he spoke and played music from the upper floor far too loud during the meal. Music mix and lighting was reasonable, but DJ needs to retire to a SAGA cruise ship!
I have to say the table service by waiters was reasonable and they were all very friendly and helpful, but overall the evening was a complete rip-off for £65 each.
The added shock was the outrageous bar prices. Very little in the way of draught beers (2 lagers only I believe) and no ales on tap. Beers were £6.50 a pint and I was gobsmacked to be charged £6 for a can of Guinness - yes a can for £6! Even the bar tender thought it was a ridiculous charge and told me a medium glass of wine costs £10! I appreciate the venue will have overheads, but a can of Guinness costs less than £1 in the supermarket. I would probably accept paying £3, but £6 - utterly disgraceful.
One of the staff informed me they'd had a busy run of Christmas party nights on Fridays and Saturdays (and some Wedensday's), so just consider the maths... 400 guests x £65 = £26,000 per night! Plus the revenue from exuberant bar costs - this venue is milking thousands of customers. Many from other groups we spoke to were also very disappointed with the evening. I honestly could have had a better meal at MacDonalds or a local kebab shop.
So - abysmal food, disgraceful bar prices; cold red wine; very little thought given to COVID precautions - no hand sanitiser in the toilets or on bar areas; overcrowded considering the current Omicron variant risk - totally irresponsible of the management to allow such numbers in a confined venue.
DO NOT EVEN CONTEMPLATE THIS VENUE FOR A GROUP CHRISTMAS PARTY IN 2022!

Great racecourse but expensive food and drink

Newmarket racecourse is amazing, I love coming here, however I am outraged at the price of food and drink, everything is the same price wherever you go, unfortunately for such expensive prices the quality is just not good at some places. I don’t buy food or drink here anymore.

As we emerge from this pandemic why are we exploited by these venues - having paid for premier tickets we were subjected to highway robbery and limited choice -£6 and more for crappy Carling lager and no bitter and a choice of awful food- what a complete rip off

Simply the best racecourse, lovely town and great course.
Gallops are just out of the town and a great chance to see how the horses are looked after and trained.
Accommodation when meets are on is difficult so you need to book early.
The course is spacious well managed and offers all you need for a great visit.
Only downside are the increasing number of idiots, mostly non race goers, who are intent of drinking themselves into obnoxious lunatics looking for a punch up. Fortunately these are few and far between and the staff are brilliant at containing it but it is a care point.

Excellent venue and great event when racing is combined with a concert

Visited on Friday 13th August 2021 for Jockey Club Live. Arrival for the races was slightly confusing as it wasn't clear from the temp road signs what was the correct car park to use. Once inside there was plenty of space to move around and a nice range of mobile eateries. The weather was good which always helps. There were circa 5 races in advance of a Rick Astley concert and my only issue during that period was that the Tote betting window only had 1 person operating it and that given that there were large queues before each race and not everyone got to place their bet. Drinks were expensive but that's not unique to event venues where they have a captive audience. The concert was excellent and the only concern was exiting the venue as though there was a traffic management scheme in place it seems all car parks lead to the same single access exit which obviously creates a bottleneck which wasn't great. Overall it's a great event at a great location and one I would recommend.

Good day out. Take your own sanitizer

Had a lovely day at the races at the July race course with McFly in the evening celebrating our anniversary. We had Premier tickets. All good except there was no hand sanitizer anywhere. There were a few dispensers on the walls but they were all empty.

Relaxing evening topped off with a beautiful sunset

A relaxing and enjoyable evening. We won skyVIP tickets to watch the races and then Rick Astley in the evening. The venue is very well maintained, a great food choice (good quality but expensive) and plenty of seating areas to choose from. It was my first time on the July course (indeed to a horse racing event) and I will certainly be back. The event was very enjoyable and well organised and for those still not comfortable in crowds of people, enough options and space to enjoy the event without compromising your enjoyment. Evening was topped off by a beautiful sunset and lots of happy people singing and dancing in the open air! Well done Newmarket races!!

We were fortunate to win free entrance tickets via sky so that saved us a lot of money. Be prepared for expensive food and drink £2.50 for a regular can of coke, £3.50 for mr whippy 99 ice cream £8 for hot dogs/burgers.

Plenty of benches around the venue

Excellent entertainment with Rick Astley and we’ll organised.

July course racing

It was the first time visiting the July course and, I liked it immediately. The hole area felt compact and nicely presented. I had premier tickets viewing, the parade ring , course was fine.
My only couple of gripes were, £8 for a burger!!! £8!! Nowhere near that quality, it was ok not for £8 though. Also the bar staff at the Solerno bar, although absolutely polite and smiley were, poor at service, it was all over the show.
On the whole not a bad experience.
