Just about a half hour from Runaway Bay is the Woolery Kitchen which serves a delicious, authentic Jamaican dinner but above all is the relaxing and welcoming hospitality you receive here. This 3 hour experience is filled with food and cooking tips. Tanayia will even arrange a driver and I would recommend a trip to the Blue Hole on your way to Woolery. see www.woolerykitchen.com

Woolery Kitchen is a great way to sample both an off the beaten path Jamaican community and home and enjoy an authentic home cooked meal. Ms. Faye is a delightful hostess and she welcomes you to their 1800s home that has a million dollar view! Sitting on the veranda enjoying a delicious home cooked meal and a wonderful view and breeze is a not to be missed excursion from a beach side resort in the Ochos Rios area.

We just returned yesterday from a trip to the Runaway Bay/Ocho Rios area in Jamaica. Jamaica is a beautiful country which is too often just viewed from the all inclusive resort. We are foodies and seek out food and cultural experiences wherever we travel.
We found Woolery Kitchen on Trip Advisor and trusted the excellent reviews previously posted. I reached out to them and had a ongoing communication with Tanayia up to our visit. She was extremely helpful in the planning/transportation aspects as we did not have a rental car. Thank you Tanayia!
Now, to the meal itself - Ms. Faye is a warm and welcoming host with a beautiful delicate touch in her presentation of some of the tastes of Jamaica. We were enamored with each and every course that was presented. I believe these dishes represented the true Jamaican flavors and food culture that we would not have experienced without being welcomed to the Woolery home.
They truly have a beautiful home and family. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet Mr. Charles this visit but were able to bring a little piece of him home with us, in the form of a couple bottles of his wonderful rum punch!!
Thanks to Andre for showing us a small sampling of his gifts to the world in the form of his art.
We left fully sated with the food, the beautiful scenery, the knowledge of the Jamaican fruits, vegetables and spices grown right in the Woolery backyard and the love and community of Woolery Kitchen.
We truly appreciated the total experience that is Woolery Kitchen and I believe you will too!!

We visited the Woolery Kitchen last month and what a joy it was! The surroundings, the people and the concept were truly unique in country where an abundance of all inclusive hotels do little to encourage its guests to explore what else is on offer. Woolery Kitchen gives you a fresh, authentic perspective of Jamaican cuisine in a picturesque setting with plenty of great food and perfectly easy-going hosts.
Be sure to visit the studio displaying stunning and original artwork.
Woolery Kitchen is surely a jewel of a find in the nearby Ochi area and we will be sure to visit again when we return!

We came here, expecting a good experience. What we got was an amazing experience, the best food we had on our trip, amazing service & hospitality, and the best views in Jamaica. Make sure to purchase a their homemade premium aged rum punch. Best rum punch I've ever had. This place is just awesome. Highly recommend anyone in going to Ocho Rios to go to. Truly home cooked experience. They grow most of there fruits and vegetables on the premises. Everything is so fresh and good.

Woolery kitchen served the best food we had on the island! If you would like Real Authentic jamaican food then this place is where you want to go. The service was amazing also. Can not wait to go back to get some of this great tasting food. Great job Woolery family!

A visit to see Ms. Faye and Mr. Charles at their home is a MUST when visiting Jamaica. Not only was the food amazing they shared the story of their home, garden, art studio, as well as a information on the culture of the area. This is a perfect opportunity for a small intimate experience with locals and its a great opportunity to get away from the resorts and the city. The food was superb! We had several courses that were fresh and absolutely delicious and Ms. Faye was so sweet to honor my request for a special birthday surprise for my significant other. She brought out some delicious rum cake with a candle and we sung "happy birthday". When I am back in Jamaica I will definitely be visiting them again!

If you are in Jamaica and want to experience real Jamaican food and culture this is a great place to go. I visited Woolery kitchen because I was in the area for work. The food was truly the best Jamaican food I had since coming to Jamaica. Ms. Faye has her own secret chicken recipe that was amazing. I did not have the full five course meal but I will definitely go again to get the full experience.
The best part about woolery kitchen is being able to talk to people who know all about Jamaica. They can teach you about the local culture and give advice on the best places to visit. The house is a little bit off of the beaten path, but it is nice to see a part of the countryside away from all of the tourism areas and Tanayia can give you good directions on how to get there. It is located on a small mountain ridge over looking the coast, so you can enjoy a cool breeze and a beautiful view. While I was there I also got the chance to tour the art gallery of Andre Woolery. He is a modern artist who has created some exceptional works of art.
If you are in Jamaica and like experiencing good food and culture, you need to schedule a visit. to woolery kitchen

I just came back from Jamaica (visited mid-May) and found out about Woolery kitchen through an acquaintance. If you like to travel and like the idea of dining in the home of a local then this is perfect for you. Also if you're staying at a resort as many folks do this is a great way to get out of that bubble and experience the real Jamaica.
Ms. Faye who is the lady of the house took great care of us. We had several courses including appetizers, soup, fruit, sugar cane, main course, dessert and a variety of local drinks.
Ms. Faye's ackee and salt fish are still running through my mind and the Seville juice which is sort of like a citrus beverage was delicious.
The real highlight was her Escovitch chicken a take on the famous fish dish but with stewed peppers and sauces using chicken instead.
The food is only topped by the beautiful view of the coast line from the house and the fun conversation with the Woolerys. The house is an old restored church that has an amazing veranda - and you must get Ms. Faye to show you the before and after. It's like something out of HGTV - which Ms. Faye loves to watch. So if you're looking for real tasty Jamaica food and mingling with the locals - definitely head to Woolery Kitchen.
