Interesting clear blue lagoon with a shallow pool with natural spring water and swimming area for experienced swimmers. Lovely views and fab for open swimming, provided you are able to ignore the hard sell and trashy gift stalls. Avoid the offer of a lift to your next destination and hail a cab from the main road, if you don’t want to pay extortionate prices for a ride.

Beautiful place and free. It's worth a visit. You can stop the car on the street/road, which is free, and go down the stairs, since the road is quite short.

The bus driver drops us off a good hour before the story of watching a dance show that is far from professional, in order to extract some tips from the tourist. Dilapidated boarding pontoon, we did not have the pleasure of observing this natural phenomenon because there was nothing to see

Was a wonderful experience! The girls and I had a great time. We made 4 jumps from 4 different falls. Was so much fun! Highly recommended!

The Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shield was filmed in Fiji. Nevertheless, it is sold to tourists as this lagoon. Like almost every word that comes out of the mouths of Jamaicans: a lie. Unfortunately, I was there in bad weather. All I saw was a brown lagoon!

Wonderful place to go for a swim. It’s so beautiful ! The water feels very interesting with it being both warm and cold. It’s safe and free, although there will be vendors trying to sell souvenirs or boat tours.

Quite possibly the best place I've seen in Jamaica. Incredible colors immersed in nature. There is a small platform where you can lie down and sunbathe, but it is all very wild and incredibly fascinating. Superlative.

Fortunately the Blue Lagoon had re-opened while we were on holiday in the area. There is a lot of development going around it - a new hotel is being built and access points to the Lagoon are limited by the construction trucks, etc. There is no entrance fee but you have to make your way past the guides who congregate around the narrow entrance and expect a tip for taking you down the stairs to the Lagoon where someone takes a note of your name. There is police security and life guards, and we felt safe, as we did everywhere in Portland. There are toilets and changing rooms which cost Jamaican Dollars 50 but of course most people are already in their bathing suits. These are located at the entrance to the Lagoon where you are registered. There are little shops selling souvenirs and swimming things. There is the small shallow fresh water area with cool clear water which is within the Lagoon, and then you wade deeper into the Lagoon which is a mix of cold fresh and warm brackish water. This is at the edge of the rain forest with a few big rocks to put your things on but no where to really sit and relax for very long. There is also a small concrete pad further around on the side you can walk or swim over to and this is where you can sunbathe or jump into the deep water. The life guard is there. There is a floating platform in the middle of the Lagoon and a bar / bbq restaurant on the other side which looked very popular. People were kayaking to it from a nearby hotel. You can swim over or the life guard will rent you a paddle board. We were only there a couple of hours but it would be worth spending half a day plus having a meal and some drinks. There was a mix of local families and tourists but it didn’t feel crowded.

Still closed at 23rd February 2023, supposedly for redevelopment but nothing has been done for months. We managed to find a way in and had a fabulous swim.

Estava ansiosa por visitar a lagoa e fazer o passeio até a Monkey Island, mas o acesso da Lagoa estava fechado. Tentamos por mais de um lugar, sem sucesso...

There’s no cost to go there. You pay for boat ride on the lagoon or tours around the area on a boat or bamboo raft. They will also take you to a small island where you can swim and hang out. If you want to see the area you will need to do a boat tour because you old have a small entrance which leads to a small spot where you can look at the lagoon.

It all depends on what company you use but it will cost you about $6-$8,000 Jamaican per trip which has two people. Normally last for about 3 hours

Usually at the resorts there are tour operators or agents that could arrange these things for you before hand, however you can always show up and get a raft to tour the lagoon.

Just go there, you will find plenty of people offering a tour. We didn't take a tour, we just swam off the jetty instead

How much is the entrance fee & how much will it cost me taking a route taxi from Port Antonio to Blue Lagoon ?

A taxi is $20 US - but the local 'route taxi ' is only $200 JMD (about $2) each way. No entance fees at Blue Lagoon but also not much else but a broken down dock (no food available). Worth going, so beautiful! We were there on New Years Eve and went for a swim near midnight. Was awesome.

Not sure of the boat ride cost, but swimming is free. I wouldn't pay more than $4,000 Jamaican for the ride/tour though.
