The cliffs in Negril at Rick's Cafe was an amazing experience! Do not go to JA and miss the chance to enjoy the cliffs. There were various levels to jump from to get into the warm, white-sand water that looks like a pool when the sun hits it! Just exciting and satisfying! The beautiful sunset, great music, and the delicious food brought a blissful end to the day! ❤️

We had a blast-10 days of fun . We loved every moment - nights and days! The cliffs are our favorite places to stay.. we spent 3 nights at Begona Cliffs $91 a night - for an Ocean front! A bit rough and noisy! Across the street was the No Limit Bar- a fantastic Teeny west end dive bar ! Then 7 dreamy nights way up at Idle Awhile Cliff ( maybe my 8th stay). We had an oceanfront Villa ….You have to be hard pressed to find a better place to unwind…. In the end it’s the setting and Jamaican people. It’s almost indescribably-ya mon -

I will start by saying that many people love the cliffs. We are older so it did not appeal to us as it would to the younger set, but I will say the cliffs are beautiful and have the bluest and clearest water I ever seen. I do recommend going to check this place out.

I have seen rocky coasts at other Caribbean islands but here they are just something else - stunning clear water, nice hotels and restaurants and cliff jumping along with snorkeling... not to forget stunning sunsets since it's all facing west.
While lots of people visit the area on the boat, we did not but had a pleasure of staying at the Rockhouse Hotel and visited for a lunch at Rick's Cafe - so the pictures here are from these 2 locations - I prefer beach for my island vacations but must admit staying 3 nights/4 days at the Rockhouse along these cliffs was something special that I will never forget!
TIP: be careful when doing cliff jumping.... I have jumped from one of the bridges 2 times perfectly fine just to get into water awkwardly during the 3rd attempt and beat up my chest and nose - felt like someone punched me :) the adrenaline carries you far, I can attest to that but you will end up feeling it later when things calm down :)

If you stay on the Cliffs, make sure you spend a day on 7-mile Beach as well. About the cliffs. Beautiful views and wonderful places to eat and drink. Prices are higher than on the beach but not by much. Be advised that you have to exit each place and walk on the side of the road and for us Americans, that can be dangerous lol. Your best bet is to hire a driver. I have stayed at Catcha Falling Star several times and Mirage once. I love the area and the choices of food, just don't like that there is no beach. LTU has wonderful food and views and I rec.

If you stay on the cliffs, you can always go to Seven Mile Beach, but not vice versa. Cliff access is reserved for those who stay there, unless you want to brave the tourist trap that is Rick's Cafe.

Being scubadivers, the cliffs and reefs of the Samsara / Ricks Cafe area have our preference above the sandy shallow 7 mile beach of Negril. The coral gardens from Negril Beach, either swimming or snorkeling are at >1hour through shallow water just almost out of reach.

Water is bath warm and crystal clear. Thermocline gives great perspective. When the water is not that rough, the sea is quite and the sky is blue this is a great coral garden.
Did 1 hour snorkeling every day to the north and one hour to the south. Many fish species. Coral flinders, curious trumpetfish and needle fish / seaneedles, clownfish in their anemone, pufferfish, small bright blue spotted Damselfish, Yellow Stingray, large stingray, Scorpionfish. And many of my favorite colorful seaslugs, the Nudibranches found at spots near the rocky shore close at the cliff wall. Mostly bright blue with a purple glow: the Gas Flame Nudibranche. Large King Helmet, Queen Helmet Conge’s. Triton Conch, West Indian Top Shell. Lobster, large stingray, flying fish, Sea Robins, Gurnard, Murray eel. Mangrove crab, red black landcrab.
Coral: firecoral, deerhorn, soft- and hardcoral.
Starfish
Have not yet seen a Pygmeeseahorse, the coral is there.
In front of Kaisers markpoint are some seagrassfield, spotted Green Turtles, Lionfish, Yellow Stingray, large Pufferfish. Soft Sponge’s.
Xtabi bay has some caves. Sandals cruise boats go near the caves, these are easy to reach by snorkeling.
Rockhouse hotel has nice caves too under the cliffs to explore when snorkeling.

had the pleasure of snorkeling there and it was truly beautiful. The water was warm and even thought it was raining at the time, we had a fantastic time.

We are staying at the hideaway royalton and we are wondering the red stripe beer doesn't agree with us to well if there is a place that we can get American beer brought to our resort and the price?

90 minutes by car/taxi, with traffic. 70-80$. Public buses are longer. A long way for a day trip, suggest staying in Negril, T-Bird on the Cliffs is convenient and reasonable.

My family booked a place at the 7 mile beach but we are looking forward on doing some cliff jumping during our stay. I wanted to avoid the crowds of Rick's Cafe and have been searching for a place more low key to do the dives and snorkeling. I found the restaurant Xtabi. Does anyone have recommendations of other restaurants or hotels that will allow us to dive? We do have a toddler and a 9 year old with us so it would have to be a kid friendly place.

Xtabi was a nice place to stay as well. Low key. And only a 5 minute $10 round trip drive to Ricks Cafe. Windy roads so don’t walk

Rick Cafe is AT the Cliffs. There are divers there to dive from different heights. They collect donations for them to climb higher up, then dive into swirling, agitating waters below! It's hard to believe anyone comes out of those waters alive!

I feel the prices are a tad high, but moreso, the crowd gets thick the closer it gets to viewing the sunset...hence we had to leave before our food ever arrived... partly be a use we were a large group travelling via bus... but if you are on your own travel time; relax, enjoy the crowd & music, food & drinks....and party on!

Hi, vitalsign. What would you like to know about this attraction? We are staying at Rui Tropical Bay Palace in Negril. What is the best excursion for our family to take in order to enjoy swimming and jumping at the cliffs? Also can anyone jump off the cliffs, I have very daring boys 9 and 12. Thank You

Go to Negril escape and you can spend the day hanging around the pool and jumping off the cliffs. The have a restaurant on site and a tower to jump from . There's a restaurant across the street that has awesome food. It's not a 4 star but we stayed here for 4 days and will be returning for 7 next March . Make sure you stay for the sunset

Couples Swept Away, just along the beach from Sandals.
This hotel is perfect ,the restaurants are very good,the food is fresh and varied. The garden varandah rooms are just lovely set in beautiful gardens and quite. We felt safe here as they have security guards along the beach who take your names and room numbers ,also beach vendors are friendly and leave you alone if your not interested, they are kept to the waters edge. The staff are all friendly and heplfull
