We did the blue hole and river tubing package through Unique Travels- Dwight was amazing (our bus driver)! The blue hole is absolutely beautiful and the water is perfect temp for swimming. We wish we had nixed the river tube. Our guide, Alan, was great, friendly, and made the tube fun but overall it was not worth it. About 45 minutes of tubing and only two parts that give a thrill. The rest of the time you almost have to push yourself- quite boring. Unfortunately the helmets and life jackets stunk/smelled sweaty when we put them on which ruined it from the start.

Moni and Ryan were our guides. It was a great trip! The water was cool and refreshing, very clean, fun tubing with some small rapid areas and a lot of lazy areas where you could float and swim. Nice scenery, lots of huge bamboo stands, some beverage stands throughout the river trip where you could get local drinks and refreshments. Very relaxing, the whole family loved it, highly recommend, good way to spend a couple of hours in the Jamaican high country!

Our tour guides were Moni and Adrian (Chukka tours). We had a fun and relaxing tubing experience. I would recommend for anyone in the area. Jamaica is a gorgeous country.

This is SO fun. Our tour guide was O'Dean and he was great! We had a lot of laughs and it is so beautiful!! It is a really great way to experience the river. There are bars along the way if you'd like to sip on a red stripe while floating down the river. The river itself is SO clear. It looks like you can touch and you definitely can't in some spots. The rapids are fun and pretty low key mind you there is still a small chance you can tip on one of them but it is fun. Would highly recommend. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip!

A lively and pleasant place where canoe rides are offered. I perceived a lot of light, a lot of color and a somewhat commercial atmosphere for my tastes.

Relaxing way to spend the day -cruise excursion. Our guides were awesome! Able to buy drinks while floating down the river and appreciated the snacks for sale

Ours was on the Martha Brae river, not the White. Well organized. Nice bus ride to starting area. Lots of different activities there. Our guide was 'the president'. Good job. Helpful, informative. All the tubes are tied together. there are a couple of gentle rapids but for the most part it is a smooth drift under a canopy of bamboo. Very scenic.
$10 fee for locker for bags, purses, etc. Small gift shop. Bought snack and frig magnets.
Bus trip over from port, guide K.C. was excellent. Driver ws Joel who did a good job on the narrow, 1 lane roads

We floated down the White River on a combo tour. You get a helmet (was needed) and life vest, then back on bus to start of tour further up the mountain. Recommend renting the locker for valuables and keeping things dry. The floats have hard plastic bottoms because the water is shallow in some places with lots of rocks. You will get wet but not soaked. The water is cool/cold but not freezing uncomfortable. Recommend water shoes - guides keep you floating down the river as you easily get stuck in the curves. River doesn't flow fast. There were two parts that were 'rapids' but very safe and short. Locals have tables in the middle and sell you drinks and snacks which was funny. It's very beautiful and we enjoyed it (ages 9-55).

We had 2 guides for 9 of us & they were absolutely wonderful! Going down the river was an adventure in itself, they guides let us stop to swing on the water & to jump in with the rope swing. Very calming & relaxing floating down the river. Highly recommend!

Is this in Ocho Rios. We are going to port in Montego Bay and were trying to find something closer to Montego

It is in Ocho rios. You will have to travel from Montego in order to see anything worthwhile. There are some attractions as close as Falmouth, but Ocho is the better place to go.

Does anyone know if you rent a car and head over to the white river, if there’s any way to rent the bamboo raft on your own or do you need to go through a tour company?

You can always go by yourself in a car, no need for a tour organizer. But.... you have to purchase your tour at the white river and the tour is guided by someone paid to protect and direct you in the river. When you reach the end, you are transported back to the top (your starting point) where your car is parked.

Is there a spot people who don’t want to raft can chillout with babies? (10 months old)

Yes, someone can chill out at the starting and ending point which would be a store and restaurant. The river is very much a slow lazy river It would be suitable for children.

Hi, I've been in text communication with Keith's Bamboo Crew in Ocho Rios (they didn't return a voicemail) about taking a trip on the River when we're there on a cruise ship in mid April. They did answer a text and said to just give them a call or text when we arrived. When I asked another question about cost and how to get to his tour they answered with "Ya man one love." Does anybody have experience with this company, how much the tour costs and whether or not they will actually respond if we call the morning we get there? I appreciate the laid back attitude, but just don't want to be left high and dry when we're there because our time is limited. Thanks.

His number is his personal cell phone and he's usually doing tours so reception may not be great.
Try calling again during business hours close to 4:00 (tours are usually done by then)
His tour is a great, more off the beaten path experience - we paid $80 per person as well and that included a fantastic lunch and red stripe. We were staying at couples resorts so did not need to be picked up so I'm guessing it's more if you need a ride.
I would not wait until you arrive to call - I think he meant - text him your arrival date.
Remember jamaicans do not read standard English as easily as we do so texting may not be best.
I've done his tour twice and we're always sad when it ends...
