It’s just a rock sitting on top of another rock. Honestly this walk lacked anything of significant interest and I would not recommend stopping here. There are other more interesting walks nearby

It’s just a flat stroll nature trail. Various plants and rock formations. Check out the other trail at Cap Rock if you remember the Gram Parsons story. There’s a memorial on the backside of the rock.

Split Rock is easily accessed right off the highway and is a popular spot for beginning rock climbers to develop their skill. For folks not quite so adventuresome, there is a very nice nature hike complete with detailed signs that allows you to develop a better understanding of the desert. The area has some interesting birds, so take your binoculars.

Short, flat hike that would be good for small kids. Information placards along the trail, mostly about the different types of vegetation. Good spot for a stop to walk around.

This is the Cap Rock Nature Loop. It is only 3 miles to enjoy the cacti and the rocks.

While we walk we learn about flowers, rocks and way more

At one time we had to enter through a small rock. That was fun!

How does anything survive?

Do the unique adaptations of many plants. and animals.

There were a lot of boulders.

We passed through the rocks. Wow!

A must see!

We started the short walk around sunset and stopped at a bench surrounded by huge boulders to wait for the stars to come out. It was a great place to stop and on the walk back to the car, we saw several kangaroo rats walk right out into the path!

This walk is only .3 miles.

This is the land of desert and boulders.

They showed some plants that we can try at home.

We liked to enter between two boulders.

We saw lots of trees and boulders.

We had fun and we learned more.

Anyone could walk here with no problems.

A must see! Wow!

Consigliatissimo
