The Skull Rock trail hike was amazing! Last Summer over 80% of the Joshua Tree died on the August 2023 brushfire, never to come back again on the Colorado Plateau.

As there are some people likely climbing up the rock, some photographers could be a little irritated because they don’t want other family on their pictures. Or just wait a little while. Like I did.

We saw Skull Rock on our visit to Joshua Tree NP. We did not hike the trail nearby, but we did see the interesting rock formation that looks like a skull. It is an interesting stop and it doesn't take very long to visit. It is worth a look.

So cool. Definitely stop here if you’re traveling threw the park, can get pretty jammed up but worth it. My daughter loved climbing all the rocks!

Very crowded but cool rock formation. Recommend doing one of the longer loops around the stop to make it worth it. We did a one-mile loop that crossed the road and saw no one but enjoyed cool views.

Worth a stop. Right along the road. It is a quick 5 minute stop to get out and see Skull Rock. It is a busy stop in Joshua Tree NP.

Easy parking on the side of the road and the skull rock formation was right beside the road. We didn’t think it was that impressive, busy location.

This is a really cool rock feature in Joshua Tree National Park. It's right by the road, so you don't even have to get out of your car if you don't want to. It was rainy on the day that we visited, so we weren't able to enjoy the full extent of this feature, but we could see it pretty well.

Interesting little stop. Lots of rocks to climb on and explore. Small trail gets a little blurry and we got off course a few times. Overall good stopping point!

The Skull Rock is right beside the road. So even if they don't allow dogs, think of it as getting it out of your car and the rock is a few feet away. No one would mind if you brought your pup along. Have fun!

I visited Arches National Park in Utah in February this year on Presidents day. We drove right into the park off of the main highway. My friend who was driving commented that he never drove into the park entrance without being slowed significantly by a line of cars ahead of him. I am wondering what types of crowds to expect and how it it will impact us both driving around and hiking. We will have this experience (delayed by more cars than usual) when driving to Joshua Tree the second weekend in May (Mother's weekend)? Planning to stay in Twentynine Palms. Time frames for doing things, getting places would be helpful. .Thanks in advance for input, suggestions, recommendations.

It isn't so crowded at the Cottonwood Spring entrance. We went Feb 16, 2017, and it wasn't very crowded. I'm sure it would be busier on a holiday.
