When we heard about the sand dunes we thought of rolling mounds of sand that would be interesting to see in the park. However, when we saw how high they reap h and how far they stretch we were dumbfounded.

We are from Florida, and we see a lot of sand dunes all the time. Nothing too spectacular about these dunes. Interesting photo ops with twisted trees and vegetation. Not worth the drive to see these unless you have never seen much sand. We saw and climbed the Sleeping Bear Dune over 450 feet above Lake Michigan.

I have not seen so many cigarette butts and plastic bottles anywhere like in this place. The sights and sounds are awesome but no one picked up their trash.

This was a bucket list visit. The sand dunes are iconic - just what you'd expect in the Sahara. The sand is soft and we recommend taking off your shoes to enjoy your walk. This is a beautiful place and we were happy to get here before the big wind storm hit.

This is one of the most beautiful places in DeathValley. We went in January so heat was not a problem. I never really thought about how wonderful sand dunes can be.

Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes is an extensive dune system with easy access in Death Valley National Park. Parking is along CA-190 just a couple miles east of Stovepipe Wells. There are no trails, but visitors can pretty much walk where they please around the shifting sands of the dune fields with otherworldly views of the dunes and surrounding mountains. It's also a good spot for nightsky viewing, we came here one night and laid on the sand watching the stars. Awesome spot and a must-visit in Death Valley.

Można tu sobie wyobrazić jakie trudności musieli pokonać odkrywcy Doliny Śmierci: okropny upał, drogi usiane kamieniami, brak wody i wreszcie pustynia, na której od czasu do czasu szalały burze piaskowe.

I highly recommend visiting when there is a ranger program, learned so much!! Also this is the one dune in the park you can actually sled down (bring your sled next time!). Simply stunning.

Yes, there is a pullout and small parking lot adjacent to the dunes. You can walk out as far as you'd like or take pictures from the car. 4wheel drive is not needed.

Hello, are you able to access the dunes with a regular car, like a sedan? coming from Phoenix AZ I guess trough las Vegas NV!

Hi, yes you can, there is a paved car park just off the main road and it is then a short walk of about 100 yds to the star tof the dunes themselves.
