We were in Taichung enroute to Nantou and came by this small urban farm for a visitation and fruit picking as part of our day tour itinerary. Unlike other fruit farms we had previously visited, this farm offered honey dew and red dragon fruit for our "fruit picking" during our visit.
At first, the owner farmer cut these fruits for us to sample, that were very fresh, sweet and juicy with nice fragrance before he guided us to his farm, where we fruit picked. He gave detailed explanation on the planting process along the way and they were all pesticide/insecticide free that were more healthy.
It was very sunny and warm weather but the walk-about at the farm was quite rewarding and interesting as we saw how the honey dew and dragon fruit plants were and so many of them in a small enclosure. It was fun but had to be very careful as the ground was uneven and the dragon fruit plants had torns all over since they belong to the cactus family~ Wear jeans/long pants may help to prevent scratches and the owner also provided hand gloves.
The admission fee to this farm was NT100 per pax but each of us could bring 1 kati (600 grams) of fruits away, be it honey dew or dragon fruit. So we left with 2 huge honey dew and about 10 dragon fruits!
It's a good and eye opening experience for us since this was the first time we were fruit picking these 2 kinds of fruits as previously we had done so for strawberries, cherries, mulberries, apples etc.
But remember to bring an umbrella or cap especially during summer or early Autumn which was when we were there, it was very sunny and warm.
I do have many pics to share of this farm and our fruit picking but am not able to upload as I am the first person to suggest this place. But if this review is approved, I will surely upload the photos.
