來到內子町，從JR車站一路走來，先去內子座，在到內子老街，直接走過來要20分鐘，只見老街道保存完好，古色古香，平日沒啥遊客，靜靜的老街超有氣氛，不少建築可參觀，也有不少特色小店，跟台灣那種到處都有然後長的都一樣的老街就是不同，來到內子不可錯過老街。

完全沒有刻意翻新旅遊景點的味道，安安靜靜的一條古街訴說著歷史過往，內子全是老人家更顯的街道的滄桑，內子町最有氛圍的地區

我就愛這種走在古街上慢悠悠的散步、邊走邊拍照的感覺。雖然已經是沒落的小鎮，但是走在街上還是可以想像當初繁榮的景象。。若有時間可以去「內子座」去欣賞一下日本歌妓的表演～～～

整段路程來回jr車站距離要最少45分鐘，但觀賞日式傳統建築是很舒心的活動。建議留些時間，再配合jr火車時間，悠閒觀賞。山上的街道是日本歷史百大街道之一。

This street has beautiful old houses and a few tourist shops. I am not sure why but when we visited there was hardly any other tourists around. Worth a visit, just for the serenity after visiting a city!

Before arriving, I had planned to spend only a couple of hours in Uchiko before moving on to my next port-of-call at nearby Ozu. As it turned out, I was so captivated by this charming town that I reluctantly had to drag myself away after some 6-hrs exploring its' many delights.
There is a useful 'Uchiko Walking Map' available in English (and other languages), which you can pick-up on arrival at the JR Station and on exiting the station you can't help but notice the preserved 2-6-2T steam locomotive (C12-231) parked outside. Built in 1939 and withdrawn in 1970, the locomotive has been located outside the Station since 1997 and a complete restoration was undertaken in 2014; hence it's current good condition.
Although it's a brisk walk from the Station to the Historic District Preservation Zone, you can take in the 'Uchiko-za Theatre' and the 'Museum of Commercial & Domestic Life' on the way [Y900 for combi-ticket to the 3 worthwhile 'tourist spots' in Uchiko]. The Preservation Zone itself is less than a kilometre long and runs from the junction by the attractive (white ceramic tiled) Iyo Bank building up towards the Kosho-ji Temple and contain many examples of picturesque traditional townhouses. As most of these townhouses (e.g.: Omura Residence and Honhaga Residence) are privately-owned residences, they are not open to the general public but can be viewed from outside (although you can go inside the gates of the Honhaga Residence to view the garden from behind a picket fence).
Don't miss the Japanese Candle Maker and 'Traditional Townhouse' near the start of the Preservation Zone and the Bamboo Studio near Kosho-ji Temple (all free-of-charge to enter). The 'Japanese Wax Museum & Kamihaga Residence' towards the top end of the Preservation Zone is the 3rd of the worthwhile 'tourist spots' covered by the combi-ticket.
I'm so glad that my early arrival gave me the flexibility to prolong my visit and really enjoy the pleasant surroundings of this peaceful town.

This is one of those few old Japanese towns mostly remain intact in its original form with few modifications. The town is extremely quite, calm with very few shops, restaurants and if course not much residents. Make sure to walk down the street. You won't get disappointed.
