When walking on the main Bieszczady ridge, following one of (or possiby the) most exhausting trail in Poland, marked in blue, on a small pass between hills Czerteż and Hrubki, there's a small grave, with red star, and short description in russian and latin letters, giving the rank, name and birth and death dates of person buried here. Leutenant Piotr Andrejevicz Gladysz is the person named on the monument, russian soldier supposedly somewhat associated with air force. Same details are given on tourist maps. But according to extensive research, done in 2013/14 by one of WWII enthusiasts, this isn't quite right. Even the name isn't right, as it was shortened, and the full surname should be Gladyszew. When he was shot dead on this spot on 9th October 1944, he was platoon commander of the 3rd company of heavy machine guns of the 626th regiment of riflemen. The regiment was part of the 151st infantry division, which at that time was part of the 18th guards corps of the 18th army of the 4th ukrainian front. Nothing to do with air force. Research done by "piters". I hiked this trail many times, but in july 2019 for the first time I knew, who was burried there. Monument is right in Poland/Slovakia border, on Slovakian side, within Male Poloniny National Park boundaries, bordered there by Bieszczady National Park on Polish side. Easy to reach on round hike from Slovakian Nova Sedlica village, using red and green trails.
