This beautiful church beside the cemetery was built in 7th century during the government of Longobardi , the terms Badia derives from the term Abbot who represented the highest office of the Benedictine monastery that was annexed to the church.
Beautiful the arch in front the church , it was the portal to enter to monastery.
On the wall after the arch you can see a marble bas-relief depicting the story of monastery.
The bell tower has the typical battlements of castles.
Facade very simple with a fresco over the central entrance.
Internal with three naves without paintings or interesting statues, but an incredible marble altar is between the main and the left naves with beautiful statues and a paintings of Jesus dead in the arms of Madonna .
At the end of the left nave you can admire the copy of marvelous fifteen-century polyptych painted by Francesco D’Andrea Anguilla , the original is inside the Sacred Art museum in the center of the city

Bellissima chiesa unica navata molto antica ma ricca di storia .. altare alla madonna molto particolare

.... fecero proprio un bel Lavoro !
Questa antica Pieve ne e' tutt'oggi una tangibile testimonianza di Arte e di Tradizioni ecclesiali !
Non mi dilungo oltremodo perché CHI mi ha preceduto e' stato molto .... esaustivo in merito e quindi vi dico soltanto di passare da QUI ( sull'antico tracciato della Via Francigena ) e di ammirarla dal vivo !
Buona escursione ....
Questa antica Pieve ne e' tutt'oggi una tangibile testimonianza di Arte e di Tradizioni ecclesiali !

Fondata nel VII secolo dai monaci benedettini, la Badia di San Pietro a Camaiore con il suo complesso monastico circondato da mura, è stata a lungo punto di riferimento sull'itinerario della Via Francigena, l'antica strada di pellegrinaggio che collegava Canterbury a Roma e attraversava tutta la Toscana, inoltre oggi 8 settembre festa della madonna possiamo fare una visita accendendo una candela e prendere una piccola bottiglina di olio benedetto, merita una visita per chi si trovasse in zona 😊

Mooie romaanse kerk waar nog steeds de pelgrims langslopen ( de Camina Francigena) aan de zijkant het hostel waar de pelgrims kunnen slapen. In de Zomer worden er orgelconcerten gehouden op het fraaie orgel.

Chiesa tipica gotico romanico veramente bella, da vedere ed è in zona francigena infatti al suo lato c'è Ostello del pelleggrino; punto del pellegrino

Proprio accanto al cimitero, ha a disposizione un piccolo parcheggio gratuito di fronte. Risale al periodo della domiciliazione longobarda, al 700 circa. Suggestivo l'interno.

Molto bella questa badia che si trova a pochi passi dal centro di Camaiore: merita la visita.
Non mancate di visionare il bassorilievo che si trova all'esterno, sul muro perimetrale, a destra guardando la badia: in pochi quadri vi è rappresentata la storia della Badia e di Camaiore.

La Badia Di San Pietro a Camaiore si trova poco distante dal centro di Camaiore, raggiungibile anche a piedi, è in bella posizione con prato antistante. Ben conservata sia all'esterno che all'interno. Bell'edificio romanico i cui primi documenti sono antecedenti l'anno '1000. Un arco d'ingresso immette sul piazzale e sulla destra i resti della cinta muraria. Altrettanto belle la facciata e la torre campanaria.

Alla vigilia della Granfondo della Versilia ci siamo addentrati a Camaiore e ad un certo punto abbiamo seguito le indicazioni turistiche per la Badia. All'improvviso, nel buio della sera, è apparsa la visione di questa spettacolare Chiesa romanica tutta illuminata. L'abbiamo "esplorata" prima all'esterno e poi, una sbirciatina all'interno, grazie ad un gruppo di ragazzi musicisti che stavano effettuando delle prove nella chiesa. Ne è valsa la pena. Un'altra testimonianza della nostra storia.
