The exit of [Matsusaka Station] is located at the west exit of the JR side, with the east exit on the Kintetsu side. If you know Norinaga Motoori, you may take a glance at this [Matsusaka Station], but many visitors to [Matsusaka] may not understand what it means to have this [Ekirin] installed in front of [Matsusaka Station] after walking. The ekirei (a collection imitating the collection of Tamawakasu no mikoto Shrine in Oki) that became the symbol of this ekirei musume is displayed at the Motoori Norinaga Memorial Museum. Also, the roof of the central station at the west exit of [Matsusaka station] has a unique shape, but this is said to be the large long roof of [the castle guard house] in a plastic.

When you think of Matsusaka, you think of cows and Motoori Norinaga. This monument was erected because the study in the house where Norinaga lived was named Suzunoya. This bell is modeled after the station bell that was given to ancient government officials as an ID card when they went to Ise Shrine. It was modeled after a bell that was given to Norinaga by the lord of Hamada Domain, who was a fan of Norinaga, and was left behind as a relic. You can't get too close to the monument, but it is quite eye-catching.

JR松阪駅前にあるモニュメント。本居宣長の遺品である驛鈴を模ったもの。本居宣長は山桜と鈴を愛したとのことで、この驛鈴は松阪のシンボルにもなっています。

松阪駅前にあるモニュメントです。ただ車などが来るため近くには寄れません。どのような物か分かりませんが、松阪の象徴的なモニュメントです。

松坂駅前のモニュメント。JRと近鉄、バスのターミナルであるがあまり人通りも多くない。駅前ロータリー自体も目立ってなく、ちょっとかわいそうなモニュメント。

松阪駅前にある大きな鈴のモニュメント。松阪ゆかりの国学者・本居宣長にちなんだもので、その原形は現島根県の浜田藩の藩主が宣長に送ったものなのだそうです。

松阪の駅前には、巨大な驛鈴のモニュメントが建っています。由来に関しては詳細は割愛させて頂きますが、鈴の音をこよなく愛した、郷土の偉人、本居宣長を顕彰する意味で設置されていますので、市内観光の最初にこの鈴のことを学んでから、宣長関連の史跡や展示施設を巡られると良いです。
