Saw them on Facebook and thought why not - so I ordered a hamper and a box of chocolates - hamper for Wife & I box of choccys as a present. The present did not last the day - everything was beautiful, nothing was over sweet, the freeze dried items are awesome - We have already ordered and been through a second hamper and this will be a regular treat for my wife & I from now on.

The best news with Poppies Chocolates are they ship online,it is truly the very best chocolate I have ever tasted,including a couple of trips to Europe.
My all time favourites are Frochies,which are freeze dried red rippers and Pineapples,pineapple lollies that have been freeze dried,then coated in their heavenly milk chocolate.
You can't go past their strawberry coated chocolate and rocky road.

There really is no tour of the factory as advertised and due to covid and Easter soon even the viewing window was closed but a staff member allowed us to look through the window at nothing exciting.
Due to covid there was no tasting of chocolate which was disappointing, we would have paid the high prices if you could taste it first.
There was meant to be a cafe but that was nowhere to be seen and the staff member said she was unaware of one.
Strangely there was no covid sign-in either.
The chocolate we did buy was ok but the advertised experience was nonexistent

I have a disabled husband and we have a service dog (which never gets of his lap while in stores) we are supposed to be able to go anywhere, we have been with the dog to restaurants, on a bus and train. shopping centres, supermarkets, pie shops, sweets shop but we CANNOT go to POPPY'S CHOCOLATE FACTORY which had all the products in packages or behind glass. We decided to go there because it was a small locally owned business to with a $500.00 purchase for our charity day. But we were denied entry, we ended up purchasing Darrell Lee chocolates. Bottom line is why try to help local businesses when they do not know the law. or have any compassion

I have not visited the factory, but have ordered quite a decent variety online to try, so this review is about the taste and not the factory experience, and I too like Ian wouldnt be claiming that this is the best chocolate in Australia, especially if you have a passion for and appreciate quality chocolate.
I know everyone has different taste buds and dont get me wrong, its yummy chocolate (especially the caramel and strawberry rock road) but when I tasted the chocolate, the first thing that came to mind was claiming that its the best in Australia is a bit rich- sorry Poppy, I love your energy/vibrancy and thats what made me want to try your chocolate and order from interstate to start with.
The Executive Chef you mention needs to get out more and start exploring the world of chocolate, he could start with Laderach.

Recently tasted some of their chocolate. After travelling the world and spending a lot of time through chocolate making powerhouses in Europe and tasting many of Australia's best chocolate this shop is average. Haigh's chocolate which has been in Australia for more than 105 years leaves this chocolate for dead. The quality is FAR superior with Haigh's and the prices well below that of this company. Experience over 105 years leads to the best and that is why Haigh's chocolate is the best in Australia. So, to the owners please do not overstate your product as it is not as good as you state and definitely over priced for what you get.

Dear Ian D,
I am the owner of Poppy's Chocolate and I have received your message. I apologise for my delayed response as our factory has been closed to visitors due to COVID and I have not been looking at Tripadvisor.
It seems you are a fan of Haigh's which is great as they are, indeed, an excellent Australian chocolate company. I personally find Haigh's chocolate not smooth enough and not as smooth as ours, but I did taste some of their chocolates again recently and I noticed they had improved on this. They certainly do have some delicious chocolates and their factory tour is also great - as they have been around for 105 years, they have certainly had longer than our 15 years to build a brand of old fashioned chocolates. We focus on more modern Artisan style chocolates. Haigh's are not in Qld because they unsuccessfully had a shop here many years ago and, like most chocolate companies that have attempted to come to QLD from South, did not do well and closed.
It also appears, from your review, that you have not been to Poppy's Chocolate nor actually bought any chocolates yourself as you only state that you "recently tasted" some of our chocolate. As we have no idea what chocolates you tasted or where they even came from and how they had been stored, we can not make any useful assessment of your "review". Chocolate is a very absorbent product and will absorb flavours from other items so if the chocolate you "tasted" was not bought by you and eaten immediately, it is very possible the chocolate has been tainted by the way it was stored.
Based on the feedback from the majority of people who have tasted our chocolate, we are not overstating our product. in fact, I have been personally told by an Executive Chef who attended William's Royal Wedding (and also worked with Oprah for a long time) that our chocolates are better than any he has tasted worldwide. Based on the labour costs of handmaking chocolate in Australia using Australian employees, our prices are not overpriced but very reasonably priced for their quality.
Chocolate is a very subjective taste and depends largely on your experience and your personal tastes. eg. Americans love Hershey's because they grow up with that but the rest of the World think Hershey's is not good (and it is actually made with sour milk). We understand you believe your experience of our chocolates may be different to most and your preferences may be different and this is why there are so many different styles of chocolate on the market. It is not a one taste fits all product, just like wines.

Wow what an experience trying delicious chocolates. One can even view the process. So many wonderful different types to buy and wonderful gift ideas.

Showed up as 1 of the 2 things to do in Beenleigh. Glad I went there. Has a viewing area with good info boards. Big range of Artisan chocolates on display. Individual or packets available. Not cheap but so yummy. Sending someone to buy me a gift one day. Very friendly staff.

I go down to Poppy's when I need a gift for someone who is difficult to buy for. It is interesting to be able to view the making of the chocolate and see how clean the kitchen is. the staff are always helpful and ready with samples to make you decision easier. I always have no problem parking.

Are there certain days the viewing room is open and do you have to book to view ? ?

Not sure what days they are open. The viewing room looks like it is open all the time.
When we went we did not book we just stopped in there.
