TripAdvisor today will unveil its 2013 Travelers' Choice awards for hotels, naming the lodgings in the U.S. and around the world that reviewers say do the best job of keeping them happy.
The biggest winner this year? The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu on Hawaii's Big Island, which won six separate titles.
It was named the No. 1 overall hotel and best luxury hotel in the U.S. and the world. The hotel also received mentions for its service, nabbing the No. 5 spot on the list of U.S. hotels with best service, and the No. 25 spot for best service in the world.
Toronto-based Four Seasons views the multiple TripAdvisor wins for its Big Island resort as well as its hotels elsewhere as an important endorsement.
"People who share these unique experiences that they've had at one hotel or another become brand advocates for us," says Four Seasons spokeswoman Sorya Gaulin. "They took time to post on TripAdvisor, and if they're excited enough to take the time to do that then they probably talk to their friends and family (about their hotel experience) and post it on Facebook, too."
Besides helping the chain accumulate more awards, positive reviews on TripAdvisor also help boost employee spirit, she says. A positive review might highlight an interaction between an employee and a guest that would otherwise go unnoticed…
