Stayed two nights and loved this place! This is a beautiful historic hotel that is extremely comfortable ! Our room is very nice, the lobby is extremely comfortable with beautiful leather chairs. The staff is very nice. Wifi is s but spotty and the breakfast is lacking toast but other than that our stay was superb . The price is very reasonable. There is s wonderful gray hotel cat there too.
You feel welcome and like you've known Sara and Bob forever. The price was reasonable compared to other B&B's in the area. We were sad to hear that this is probably the last year they'll be open. The breakfast was good each day and was a great start to our plans each day.
Picked it because of reviews but they didn’t provide any sense of reality. 1. it cost a little more than quoted on this website - still cheap compared to other choices in area. 2. train does pass thru nightly - several times & blows horn several times each passing. 3. house is right beside Interstate so we heard cars & big trucks roaring by all night. 4. a box fan was provided to help with noise & lack of air conditioning. We were lucky with an unusually cool visit. A few degrees higher outside with the humidity would have been miserable trying to sleep 5. room & private bath was worn. Bring your own soaps, shampoos, hair dryer, etc. The plastic bathroom cups were not in sealed bags but in sandwich baggies (assume DIY effort by owners) 6. Basic egg & sausage breakfast each day. Grits are way better than hash browns (don't get them). Biscuits don't seem freshly made (maybe those prebaked type you can buy in bulk stores). Only set out the equivalent of 2 pats of butter for a table set for 5. I didn’t think the table was very clean. Used old plastic covered placemats. 7. Sara seems nice... a real talker. Talking seemed to distract her from duties... at breakfast she had to be asked a couple of times by another guest for coffee & she forgot to see what we wanted to eat (we did have a choice of grits or hash browns). We only had one glimpse of her husband when kitchen door was open as we headed out so we can't speak of his personality as other reviewer's did. 8. Water pitcher in a fridge that was free if you wanted a cup but you had to pay for bottled water or other prepackaged snacks. 9. We didn’t spend much time socializing with owners... didn’t really feel compelled to stay in building any longer than necessary. 10. I didn’t recognize any spot around the property that looked like the photo used on this website. 11. Tempted to give 1 star rating but gave 2 stars (okay but below average) because we chose to stay rather than leave.…
Came here for a night with hubby. We didn't have very high expectations coming here and was still dumbfounded by the state of the rooms and decor. Our bed tilted to the sides and was two twins put together to make a king. Hence the crack in the middle. House decor jumps out at u as grandma garage sale throwbacks. Although sheets were clean and smelled like fresh laundry, the bed covers should of been thrown away yrs ago. Very dusty, only cool thing was the sweet 8 track player in room. Should of skipped breakfast but the people r friendly which was a plus. But I think its time to retire the decor. Musty no a/c anywhere in house and no ceiling fans. Only box fan in ur bedroom window.
