We are traveling by motorcyle through the upper midwest, and were looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Shorewood is an "old school" motel with about 12 rooms. Our room was clean and had what we needed for an overnight stay. The man who checked us in was friendly, and gave us good advice about a local place for dinner within a short walking distance. We needed to stretch our legs, so it was fine. There are fast food places a little further west in the more "touristy" part of Gladstone. The air-conditioning window units had not yet been installed in our room, but the manager offered to put one in. We declined, since it was a cool day, and there was a great cross breeze. Beds were comfortable, and the bath was clean. The motel is located right across the street from the shore of Lake Michigan, and the view is very pretty. It's a little tricky to find...GPS or other search engines don't recognize "Lakeshore Drive" but do recognize "Lake Shore Drive".…
