Warning: It makes you to read a lot. But it is very interesting to learn about it but yes it is real sad story about history.

This is a very quick museum. Essentially one room, but with a significant amount of information. It’s fantastic to be in the historical atmosphere and the preservation of the building (especially the tile) is appreciated. The museum information includes some connections to modern-day transportation struggles worldwide, but the highlight of our time was the quick introduction by the docent at the beginning. Truly a wealth of information and if you have any question at all about what you’re seeing, you won’t be turned away. A recommended stop in Montgomery.

This is a wonderful museum in the old Greyhound Bus terminal of the 1960s. There are many photos and wonderful explanations of all the people who worked hard to end segregation and end the Jim Crow laws of the time. I felt special to stand in the same place so many freedom fighters stood to support civil rights. A must see.

TripAdvisor About mentions a cell phone tour option.... Exterior exhibits and a cell phone tour are available 24/7 and are free.
Where can we find access to this tour? I've called FRM and Montgomery Tourism and neither knew where to access it. This is for our group visit this Saturday.

My girlfriend and I took her little brother with us on a virtual tour through Montgomery. The tour led us to this beautiful piece of history where we were able to read, and learn, more in depth about the freedom rides and the entire civil rights movement. Definitely worth the walk through, cheap and educational. It took us about 45 minutes to walk through and read everything they have to offer.

The history of the Freedom Riders is integral to fully understanding the Civil Rights movement. While the museum is very small, there is plenty to learn and the staff is very helpful. Admission is $5.00. Hours: 11:00 am–4:00 pm Tuesday-Friday, and Noon-4:00 pm Saturday.
Exterior Exhibit: Always open

First, you can’t take photos. But that’s okay, this is mostly a factual museum.

Based in a former bus terminal associated with the freedom rides, it lays out the very important and dangerous protest piece by piece, over 10-15 worded tiles.

Most of the museum is words on a board, some photos, a few quotes, and some art exhibits. But the docents here are nice and helpful and it’s a great small adjunct to the other sites around Montgomery and the Civil Rights trail.

We were doing a walking tour of the Civil Rights sites in Montgomery which were closed for a National Holiday. A member of staff came out and gave a map and a great deal of useful information. Thank you.

This remarkable little museum documents inside and out the story of selfless, brave and determined young students who rode the Freedom Rides to the segregated south, risking their lives.
It is definitely worthwhile visiting, and serves to inspire us of the work yet to be done.
Recommended for families of all ages.

The Freedom Ride Museum is within walking distance of the Rosa Parks museum. You should definitely do both. Small, but good info.
