The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly. We had a tour of the whole facility, and we actually got to hold an owl. That was an amazing experience!!

Having a burrowing owl sit on my arm was amazing! It was a miserable rainy day but the birds don't care.

I have visited 3 times and have never been disappointed. If you are a bird lover or nature lover, this is MUST SEE place to easily spend 3 or 4 hours. Most recent visit in the summer of 2022 I learned of the history of the foundation - it is an amazing storey of Colin and Wendy founded and grown the facility to what it is now. There are many birds to see and interact with as well as scheduled bird presentations. Indoor displays and learning. Wonderful staff and volunteers to answer questions.

Great place and super friendly!!! This place came highly recommended from some of the locals and it did not disappoint! Between the owl talks and the flight demonstration and be able to feed a bunch of ducks and geese it was a experience my kids will soon not forget! Neither will I!!

I was left with a guilty feeling after learning that they tether their birds in the day and at night 24/7 denying their most basic instinct: flight.
I saw that some were visibly stressed desperately trying to fly away or chewing at their legs in the falcon and eagle walk.
They have no escape or refuge from people or the hot sun.
I think that restricting the movement must significantly have impacts on their mental and physical health.
I was hoping to learn about the rescue efforts and release stories but felt feeling sad for the fate of these birds that are tied for the rest of their lives.
The only place that we enjoyed was the ducks maybe because they have space to roam free and accessible water for them to drink and swim.

We got there when it first opened. It was great to hold a burrowing owl and great horned owl. Free food for the ducks was nice. The demo of the bird flying for pieces of chicken, awesome! Wonderful place.

Absolutely LOVE this place and will be going back as soon as possible. You can walk around on your own time as the tours are self-guided. It is informative and interesting. We enjoyed the wetland boardwalk and seeing the yellow-headed blackbirds.
The farm duck feeding was not open to the public due to Avian Flu precautions. I was glad to see they are taking these preventative steps while still allowing members of the public to visit.
We got to hang out with a baby great-horned owl. We held an adult great-horned owl and got some amazing photos. It was a little sad to see the eagles, hawks, and owls tethered to their perches outside but I guess aviaries are super expensive. This place does amazing work for injured birds of prey in Alberta.
The gift shop was affordable and had great selection. All the money also goes back into the shelter. A truly memorable experience and I highly recommend.

The Birds of Prey Visitor’s Centre was better than I anticipated. I arrived just in time to see the free flight show with the bald eagle, which was awesome! You see the carers passion for the birds in their care and were eager to share their knowledge. I later watched the red tailed hawks flight and was excited when asked if I’d be interested in holding an owl! Like they really needed to ask. The carer explained in good detail what to do and how and it was a memorable moment. First the burrowing owl and then a greater horned owl. The keeper also explained what she was doing while spending time teaching an owl how the work with the glove.
Seeing as this is a rehabilitation and care centre, you’re supporting them directly helps in costs of rehabbing and feeding these magnificent creatures. I very highly recommended going, seeing and supporting them. It is a credit to all involved. Thank you for an awesome day! 😃👍

We like to visit this centre once a year to support them in their goal to rehabilitate birds of prey that are brought to them because they have been injured or abandoned. Excellent place for students to work in the summer. Unfortunately not open beyond Labour Day.

We have been wanting to go to the Alberta Burds of Prey centre for some time now but Covid and other things seems to get in the way. So elated we finally got a chance to explore and visit.
It was so amazingly done with park like settings and the birds....the birds... the hawks and eagles and owls and everything else....what a great job.
Colin was such a great host, talking to us and listening to our stories. His understated presence is pleasantly received with his passion for the centre and birds shining through.
Definitely recommend for all ages. A wonderful family outing and memory to be made.

I am interested in coming but I have a dog. Are we both welcome?

We just travellers. We didn't see it any mention of it on their web site, but we suspect not. There are geese and ducks that wander free, also, many of the birds on display are not in cages, just tethered to a stand with just a rope in between them and visitors. Best, though to call or email to make sure.
